Broken Records formed in 2007 in Edinburgh, Scotland, and between the collective members brought together different musical backgrounds which now compliment the eclectic sound they create using a wide variety of instrumentation.
Their 2007 self released debut EP which was sold at shows created a wider interest in the band in the music industry and across the nation. Drowned in Sound said of the release, “This is magical, engrossing and wholly enveloping, genuinely and excitingly bursting with commercial potential. From beginning to end, this self-titled EP delights and amazes.”
Refining their sound throughout 2007 with numerous gigs throughout Scotland, they went on to release their highly acclaimed debut 7" single, 'If the News Makes You Sad Don't Watch It', on London based indie label Young Turks in April 2008. This received plaudits from such varied publications as NME, The Guardian, Drowned in Sound, The Sun and The Times. It was also voted in the top 10 singles of 2008 by Teletext in an end of the year poll. Radio 1, 6 Music and XFM also backed the single with Radio 1’s Steve Lamacq making it his single of the week and Huw Stephens inviting them to do a session for Radio 1 at Maida Vale.
A number of festival appearances followed, including Latitude, T in the Park and Leeds Festival which led to NME hailing them as “one of the country’s most exciting new bands” and Channel 4 dedicating a show to them as part of Levis Ones To Watch.
Limited releases of ‘Slow Parade’ and ‘Lies’ led to a scramble of album deal offers, with the band excited to sign to the prestigious 4AD label. The band kicked off the year by being tipped for 2009 in Q magazine, The Times and News Of The World amongst others.
They Recorded their debut album at the infamous Monnow Valley studio in Wales with producer Ian Caple in January 2009.

Adviruz is the artist psedonym of Istanbul’s Pinar Gurcan, whose growing passion for sound is translated through her music. Since an early age, she has been listening and mimicking opera singers, writing melodies, songs and poems in which she spoke her mind and reflected her soul. All of which are evident on "Nightly Sounds", an 8 track album which is the equivilent of having a glimpse into a diary, learning of love lost, gained, a snapshot of the human condition from which we can all draw experience... All of these things are developed musically into minimalistic glitch, noise, idm, experimental music and microsounds, its influences reminiscent of work by artists like Tujiko Noriko, Mira Calix, Plaid and Björk.
Adviruz and Section 27 present "Nightly Sounds", an intricately woven and rewarding musical tapestry. Available now for free download.

This is the sound of your mind's eye. This is the sound of the Sectioned... Strap yourself in and enjoy the experience.
Also features a 75 minute bonus disc "Sectioned : Nonimxs", including 9 remixes of selected Section 27 artists by Nonima and 2 original tracks created by Silent Snow and Nina Kardec using existing Nonima tracks.
