    Alicia Jo Rabins is a poet, composer, performer and teacher based in Brooklyn NY (and occasionally Portland OR). Alicia tours internationally with her band, Girls in Trouble, an art-pop song cycle about the women of Torah, as well as with other musical projects. Her work has appeared in American Poetry Review, Ploughshares, 6x6, Boston Review and Court Green; Alicia is currently completing her first book of poems and holds an MFA in poetry from Warren Wilson College. In 2009 she was selected as a musical ambassador for the US State Department/Jazz at Lincoln Center and has toured Central America and Kuwait playing old-time fiddle music with the Hoppin' John String Band. She also tutors bar and bat mitzvah students worldwide via skype and holds a MA in Jewish Women's Studies from the Jewish Theological Seminary. Alicia Jo Rabins started playing a very small violin at age three. Now she lives in Bushwick, Brooklyn with a lot of musical instruments, books, and houseplants. Current projects include Girls in Trouble (art-pop songs about the women of the Torah) the Manuals Project (violin, pedals, and poems) and Golem (frantic klezmer madness). She also writes poetry.

Girls in Trouble is a solo rock project which often features Aaron Hartman on bass, Jascha Hoffman on air organ/glockenspiel, and Tim Monaghan on drums.

the Halo Boys features a rotating cast of handsome gentlemen playing old-time on guitars, banjos, mandolins, upright basses, and other plucky objects. The Hoppin John String Band is Sarah Alden, Taylor Bergren-Chrisman, and Sean Condron.
