   About Brooks Tegler Big Band
Brooks Tegler, a drummer/Band leader/Producer, living in the D.C. area, leads jazz groups of various sizes, anything from trios up to 17-piece big bands. (This includes authentic WWII Army Air Force Band.) He works all over the world. Brooks can also be seen on nearly every sculpture panel of the WWII Memorial in Washington DC (he was the primary model and organizer of all other models for scenes depicted), and can be heard in numerous voice-over projects. Musical History—Brooks has worked and associated with many great musicians: Bass: Milt Hinton, Keter Betts, Bob Haggart, J.J. Wiggins, Major Holley, Tommy Cecil, Masato Kobayashi, Steve Novosel, Jack Lesberg, Steve Gilmore, Johnny Williams, John Previti. Piano: Art Hodes, Eddie Higgins, Bill Potts, Mark Shane, John Sheridan, George Wein, Ray Sherman, Jim Dapogny, Butch Thompson, Alan Farnun, Johnny Varro, Mike LaDonne, John Colliani, Claude Tissendier, Norma Teagarden, Harry Kanters, Mulgrew Miller, Sunnyland Slim. Organ: Jack McDuff Guitar: Steve Jordan (in Brooks’ jazz group for eight years), Marty Grosz, Eddie Ericson, Charlie LaBarbara, Danny Barker, Paul Wingo, Joe Cohn, Steve Abshire, Ian Date, Vinnie Corrao, Danny Gatton, Bob Margolin, Ted Connor, Nagome Segume. Brooks plays on over a hundred albums, including eight under his own name (5 of which he produced) and many from Europe and Japan. “It’s Been So Long” (recent) won the 2004 Wammie Award for best Jazz/Swing category. Brand new CD "That's It !" is Brooks' first release of entirely Big Band material with guest appearances by MANY great players/friends.

Hi Brooks! Your CD, "And Not Only That", is one of my favorites. How did you get such a beautiful warm & natural sound on those horns? Breathtaking. Of course, Danny and John P. are simply amazing. I've been known to sing "I've Got A Way With Women" at the top of my lungs around the house. Please keep up the fine work.
