Aight now down to the dirT alot of ya's been awaiting. Most might not be aware nor give TwO fuckS about! Brutal Mastication has been on a vacation of body and minD for what some think is way too long. I have full understanding of that. Just little over 5 years ago Jorge Lopez our drummer went to Chile to visit his family for the holidays. One would think not much of it accept for the fact that he was never able to return do to his imigration status and lack of U.S. citizenship. This was a hard blow to me and the guys from Brutal Mastication....
Lots of thought and deliberation amongst the guy's on this, not to mention we just finished recording Rage Uncontrolled the CD put out by Hook-N-Mouth Records and still needed to Mix and master it. Jorge was our man! He spent many hours with us in the studio recording everyone due to the owner/engineer of Studio 13 falling sick and relinguishing the keys to us to wrap it Brutal style. We had a major delema in our hearts and eye's. How the fuck are we going to finish this rage we started? We decided to hit our neighbors in Canada a visit. Play a few shows and wrap the mastering up. We planned to stay there almost 2 months with the shows and recording work. This is where it starts to get really fucked up!...
One hour from the Canadian border we get a call... "Hey this is Jorges ole lady, he got deported again in the States, his plane landed for a tranfer and they nabbed him and sent him back to chile rather allow him passage to canada" WTF!!! So imagine 4 band members and a trusty friend sitting on our 1978 27ft. BuS one hour from the Canadian border all the way from Hellz Swamp "South Florida" thinking what the hell we going to do. Our bandmate and Bro locked out of the country he called home. We all made it home safe and beaten down. What's next we asked?...
We decided this music MUST be finished proper no compromises! So we sent Jorge the masters and his gear and told him it's all in your hands bro, make us proud! Through many nights over the internet and Downloading samples of his work we were all able to put our thoughts together for the mix and mastering. Jorge finished it up and we got it to Hook-N-Mouth! Rage Uncontrolled was finished and we sighned David Bolt on to wrap the CD with his amazing artistic ability. The CD is something we are all very proud of and amazed we were able to complete....
With Rage Uncontrolled being released we still had a delema! How the hells we going to play without our bro Jorge? With much restraint and head banging the wall we began the search for a drummer. Low and behold we found a good friend from my way back school dayZ Scott. I don't know how the fuck he did it but he did a great job dealing with us and our need for perfection. He was put into a situtaion many drummers would run from! He did a great job playing those songs with us with lots of hard work and brutal practices. Unfortunately I belive to this day me and the rest of the guys just couldn't break from our loss of Jorge. It's very hard to explain but when you have a fine tuned machine there's never room for a replacement part. Things just won't ever run the same.... Hats off to you Scott you did a great job! But it didn't last....
Walking away from our studio was hard for me and i'm sure the rest of the guys, though we all went there on seperate ocassions to pack our gear we all couldn't face our failure! I'm still in contact with Jorge and his hopes and dreams are to return home with his family and bring aboard his new family. He had a baby Girl and has a boy on the way! I'm doing everything I can to keep him encouraged and focused on his goal to return. I made a promise to help him and I can never turn away from my word... Saving the loot to pay for legal help is now my goal and Jorge's return will be a deserved and a welcomed one. As for Brutal Mastication, will we ever play again? I don't know! One thing I do know is Jorge will return and I will find my path to music once again.Until then I'm focused on one thing, getting Jorge the legal help he needs. Brutal Mastication will never die nor will it ever give up on it's own. Any Imigration lawyers out there do pro BonO or even partial payments! hehe Worth a try! I'll keep ya's posted and do my best to keep this my-space page updated with new's. Until then Find yourself a Rage Uncontrolled CD and enjoy something that we enjoyed for so many year....
