Thanks In Advance
The long-awaited second solo album from Bryan Beller.

*********************

Check out this exclusive preview video excerpt from the special edition DVD To Nothing, a behind-the-scenes look at the making of Beller's second album Thanks In Advance, coming out in late September!

"The featured stars clearly are Beller's compositions: newly-minted amalgams of vintage rock, blues, and jazz feels fostering fresh harmonies and angular muso melodies...Beller engaged in some sonic soul-searching for his sophomore effort Thanks In Advance, and the welcome result is a bona fide entry for bass album of the year."
--Chris Jisi, Bass Player Magazine

"I love Bryan's playing! He's solid, supportive and creative with tone for days. Thanks in Advance is full of cool ideas, inspired performances and deep grooves. I definitely recommend it."
--Michael Manring

"Thanks in Advance brings us a wealth of amazing tone, wonderful compositions, killer grooves & pure musicality... When it's time to solo, Bryan throws down like a big dog, but when he's playing bass he's every bandleader's or songwriter's dream. Thoughtful, appropriate, soulful and tasty all at the same time."
--Damien Erskine, Bass Musician Magazine

Welcome! You can probably tell from looking around that this page is mostly about my solo artist thing, and also contains news of live work I do as a sideman. But do I have time for other projects? Yes. Do I play all kinds of music, not just jazz/rock/fusion? YES. Would I be interested in tracking bass for your project? WHY, PERHAPS, YES!

Just CLICK HERE to contact me if you're interested in any of the following:

* Local sessions or gigs in Nashville (I have a car)
* Remote sessions via files (I have a great Pro Tools guy here in town)
* Sessions or gigs involving travel (I know where the airport is)
* Clinics or educational appearances (I play well with others)
* Custom bass transcriptions of Keneally, Beller, or any bass material you want to see on paper (I *heart* Finale)
* Freelance writing (articles, interviews, advice columns, whatever)
* Something I haven't thought of, but you have (I'm not omniscient. Yet.)

That said, the Upcoming Shows listed above could be for me as a freelance bassist or a solo artist - be sure to check the listings.

When the Bryan Beller Band plays live on the West Coast, we are:

Rick Musallam - guitar
Griff Peters - guitar
Mike Keneally - keyboards, guitar
Joe Travers - drums
Bryan Beller - bass

And in Nashville (starting in 2009!), we are:

Chris Cottros - guitar
Jody Nardone - keyboards
Marcus Finnie - drums
Bryan Beller - bass

Be sure to visit bryanbellerdotcom for intense amounts of information, both timely and archival.

Bryan Beller - official biographical content

Bryan Beller has maintained a frenetic, multi-faceted career as a bassist, composer, writer and clinician for over fourteen years. On his own, Beller released his debut solo album, the jazz/rock-flavored View, in late 2003 to widespread critical acclaim, earning the monthly feature review in Bass Player Magazine ("…it's a thrill to witness an artist like Beller find his voice with such a self-assured debut..."). His second album Thanks In Advance, a deeply personal narrative set to advanced jazz/rock compositional confidence, is due out in late 2008.

As a sideman, he's earned a reputation as a uniquely talented yet supremely tasteful hired gun bassist for adventurous rock guitarists and singer/songwriters alike. He was Steve Vai’s choice on bass for the live CD/DVD Sound Theories – a collaboration with Holland’s renowned Metropol Orchestra – and toured worldwide with Vai throughout 2007. Recent touring work includes the "band" Dethklok, a tongue-in-cheek extreme metal band borne of the hit Cartoon Network "Adult Swim" show Metalocalypse. He’s also been a musical partner of freak/genius guitarist/composer Mike Keneally (Frank Zappa) for thirteen years, ten albums, countless tours, and millions of notes. Other sideman experiences include tours with Wayne Kramer (MC5) and Dweezil Zappa.

Beller's work as a freelance writer includes cover stories and interviews with Justin Chancellor (Tool), Jonas Hellborg, Victor Wooten, John Patitucci, Lee Sklar, Neil Stubenhaus, Justin Meldal-Johnsen (Beck, Nine Inch Nails), Jimmy Haslip, Matt Garrison, Oteil Burbridge, Dave LaRue, Billy Sheehan, Emmy-award winning television scorer W.G. "Snuffy" Walden (The West Wing), and countless others.

As a pure player, a masterclass clinician (sponsored by Mike Lull Custom Guitars, SWR Amplification and D’addario Strings), a Contributing Editor for Bass Player Magazine, and a former Vice-President of SWR Sound Corporation, Beller brings a global perspective to the world of bass, and sits at the intersection of many of its current pathways. After thirteen years in Los Angeles, he now lives in Nashville, TN, and continues to travel often.
