The prefix “post-“ downright seems to get en vogue. Curiously, this always stood for quality. If in the context of Rock or Black Metal, one steadily could expect a certain demand behind this “upper class” of musical effusions, which clearly moved away from the gross of the remaining scene. Also Caldera want to enter the path beyond the usual stuff. For themselves they describe their style as Post-Doom, what so-viewed is very appropriate. Nevertheless, the music of the young Frenchmen also mirrors a further, in no way unimportant attribute, in fact the progressive character. Namely, for the traditional kind of playing one simply expresses too modern and innovative, throughout chances relatively complex and subtly thought-out built-ups of the compositions. Otherwise, besides the accustomed elements also some other style-agents can be encountered, for example the partially very clearly obtruding Stoner-allures, which Caldera arguably adhere from former times. Thereby the virtuously controlled arts of the particular instrument cradle in an absolutely professional and fittingly differentiated sound. But, especially the bass stabs out with its independent leader-lines, awards some pieces their actual colour and in some parts serves for an unusual, but steadily intensive listening experience. Also altogether, “Mist Through Your Consciousness” offers a for the time being difficult to fathom, because even that strange picture of uncountable ideas, whose conversion and the resultant products of visionary onomatopoeia. Sometimes it even appears dreamily, when one walks through this mentally seemingly indefinable terrain of the Frenchmen. Dreamily not in the sense of loveliness and characters, which probably want to make one fall asleep, but rather in the sense of an exceptional diversity, which is crossed by a suchlike surrealistic ghost that one is lead through calm landscapes, through dense branches, passes by mystical places – seemingly beyond reality. But, even just seemingly. Because, when one listens more carefully, one will also detect lightly melancholic patterns, which in part were placed that discretely that they hardly stand out in entirety - ergo reveal their beauty just in very special moments. Thus, the assumed dream is cleared up again and one steadily balances between two emotional worlds, which, though, flow together that seamlessly that one manifests the actual feeling concerning “Mist Through Your Consciousness” only after numerous and again and again by new impressions coined courses of listening.
