From The Princess Bride to Resident Evil, from Lady and the Tramp to Terminator II, from The Fifth Element to Fiddler on the Roof to What Dreams May Come to V for Vendetta, from Independence Day to West Side Story to anything Monty Python to Hook, from Dogma to Mars Attacks to anything Marx Brothers to Ferngully, from Peter Pan to The Twilight Zone to The Wizard of Oz to It's a Wonderful Life, from the Home Alones to the Die Hards, from ET to Serpico to Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid to M*A*S*H, from Tale of Two Cities to Random Harvest to Mary Poppins, from The Sound of Music to A Fish Called Wanda to Sleepless in Seattle to City of Angels, from The Breakfast Club to Fahrenheit 451 to Total Recall to Who Killed Roger Rabbit, from Jesus Christ Superstar to Ghost to Miracle on 34th St to Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy, from Broadway and Hollywood musicals to tragic theatre to kick-ass documentary, from Disney to hard core documentaries to cynical, acerbic, romantic, and ridiculous comedy and so many in between - I guarantee I left out movies that are part of my psyche and movies I hold dear to my heart in this momentary list... I experience a movie as I experience music and life, I enter it, become part of it, and live it (sometimes long after it ends)...
Television
it's rare that a show draws me to make it a point to be home to watch it... the Sci-Fi channel gets most of my attention and some sports, but just as easily the Science Channel or cartoons might be on... TV is usually my roommates choice and very much in the background for me (or sometimes just for eye candy when there's a face I enjoy looking at), but when I happen to look up and watch, I remember enjoying Dead Like Me, Eureka, The Dead Zone, House, 24, The X-Files, Amazing Stories, The Twilight Zone, Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis, CSI, ST:NG, Monty Python's Flying Circus, M*A*S*H, Nova, The Simpsons, Futurama, South Park, The Animaniacs and again, in a few moments a dozen more might be must-see-TV for a moment....
Books
how can I possibly choose... words are like my children, there are no favorites, but a few rise to catch my attention more often than others... these come to mind tonight: Illusions, most Stephen King, the Hitchhiker's Guide series, Tale of Two Cities and other Dickens, Neil Gaiman, The Lorax and everything else by Dr. Seuss, Time Enough For Love and many by Heinlein, Bradbury, Asimov, and other Sci-Fi authors, Waiting for Godot and others of the existential or nihilistic genres... and as with the other lists, this could go on all night... I have a library in storage (hopefully I'll unpack them all one of these days) not just because I love words, but because a living space filled with books feels like home...
Welcome to my myspace. This is the about me section. These are some thoughts that might describe me (and advice I follow):
I sometimes find stating the obvious (and understatements) amusing. Other times I enjoy playing with the many meanings of words and what may appear to be contradictions to create mysteries, enigma, and playful ponderings. Though I love to play and tease, I love even more being understood. I accept that some will not understand and deal with that by enjoying confusement (and making up words). I usually cringe when I use a superlative. I shall be ironic now.
In words or deeds I always intend no harm.
We are all strangers until we meet, then, anything can happen. That is the excitement of life, the potential.
Everything is relative. As meaningful as words can be, their meaning is not truly shared until you see them in action. Take nothing seriously until you look me in the eyes, and then, you're on your own. Then, you can walk away or real sharing can begin.
I wonder if these sort of mini public biographies automatically turn into disclaimers for everyone or if that's just my perspective at the moment.
For me, myspace is not about collecting photos or who has the highest number of myspace-friends, it is about the potential for connecting with the people who will become meaningful, in some small way by passing along a profound or happy thought, or in some huge way by becoming a true friend. Every human being has that potential, so if I send you an ADD request, there is a reason. If you want to know why, just ask, you will receive an answer. You may have to ask again as I am not perfect.
People say I talk too much. I say people don't talk enough.
There is a world of difference between talking AT each other, and talking WITH each other. You ought to know that by now.
Music is the fluid that carries my spirit through my soul and words are the cells that form the bodies of my dreams. I think in rhymes and feel in melodies and hope to make a world of harmonies.
The is more irreverence in my seriousness than most people ever see and more seriousness in my irreverence than most people care to know.
Add friends randomly. You never know who might be the greatest single influence in your life or where the connection to your next smile, laugh, profound thought, giggle, fun, or tear might come from. Life is about feeling and sharing the experiences and emotions - don't be afraid to try.
Cool is not what the masses say, cool is what feels good and doesn't hurt anybody else. Be cool.
If you read a blog entry here or in any of my online writing spaces, you might catch a glimpse of one facet of me. Or several. Not that I am any sort of gemstone, I just have a lot of facets. Different points of view. I can see things from many alternative perspectives even if they are far from those I call mine. It is your choice whether to judge me on one or a few or many. Or none. Hopefully you will remember the first two or three thoughts in this profile you just read.
Thanks much for reading. You and your time are appreciated.
If you are from Florida, especially the Greater Central Florida area, check out or help out at The Social Orlando. it may be the start of a community blog for events and reviews of events (and maybe some commentary) happening in Orlando, Florida and surrounding cities. If you are interested in posting there or just have info or ideas to pass along, let me know (there or here). If you know anyone from Florida, let them know too. Thanks.

If you want to get out of the house and actually meet some great people who share your interests, check out all these different interest groups at meetup.com. It is not a dating site, it's a site that simply lists groups you can join and most usefully, events you can attend in your area. There are movie groups and sports groups and game groups and dog groups and dinner groups and dancing groups and political groups and social groups and outdoor activity groups and indoor activity groups and silly groups and serious groups. You can create your own based on your interest if you want, but I'd bet your thing is already happening and waiting for you to come out and join others doing it (what's your thing?).
There are actually thousands of different groups in the Central Florida area alone. Many hundreds in Orlando. I belong to dozens and can choose something fun to do (and fun people to do it with) every day or night. Check it out, it is the best way I know to meet new friends and if you want to find me, just ask where I'll be next. Come out and play!
Who I'd like to meet: Someone who, after reading all this, understands my sense of humor - or anyone who's laughing right now and can tell me why.
Open minds, honest hearts, secure beings, musical spirits, word lovers. Be without judgments. Empower curiosity, positivity, awareness, and love over fear. Above all else, be real.
Orlandonians (people in Orlando, FL) to hang out, share fun, inspire creativity, motivate activity, explore the area, kick back, relax, and make the most of every moment. Let's share a few real moments and see where it goes from there. If you want a public meeting, let's check out some meetups together.
Musicians, especially musicians looking for words for songs. People who know that singing is the best breathing we can do.
I am beginning to wonder if creativity exists outside of my head. I imagine it does, but then, that's just me, isn't it? I want to believe. I'd appreciate your feelings on this. If you are local, even better.

or you could just meet me in a public place (or check me out secretly from across the street or something cuz now i have a public calendar so you can find me in the world offline... it's a small world, after all... la la la)... and in case you thought I was too exposed as it was, well, no worries, your privacy is safe with me (unless you forget to tell me you want it :)
It wiped out 85% of all species on Earth in the End-Permian Mass Extinction 251 million years ago, and can do it again, right now. The much milder Cretaceous Crisis was the one that wiped out the dinosaurs.
Global warming is real and unfolding. The deniers are either blind or lying.

On September 14, 2007, Wisconsin activst Amy Burns sent out a circular urging her readers to go to the Baltimore Sun to join in what is destined to be one of its hottest forums ever, a war of minds over the "sport" of hunting, with emphasis on bow-hunting. While her readers began pondering, comments from the pro-hunting side came in hard and fast. "America's most-hated Anti" Anthony Marr jumped in head first, and so did leading anti-huntresses Tierra and Mamasita. Amazingly, the battle is still raging as we speak, more than two years later in November 23, 2009! The total number of comments so far has exceeded 93,000, and growing. This is a phenomenon, and destined to be a classic, not to be missed if you care about animals at all.
Calcutta sounds like a fable in a song, but in reality, it is where John, my colleague and successor, was murdered. He was on the job for only three days when he got his throat slashed. As an undercover investigator targeting the illegal wildlife trade, especially in tiger parts, his real name was unknown, even to me, nor mine to him. We were just John and James to each other. All I know is that he was Chinese American, while his predecessor James - real name Anthony Marr - is Chinese Canadian, and how sincere he was in helping to save the Bengal tiger from being poached out of existence, while its habitat continues to dwindle due to human pressure...
