   About The bITjAM

The bITjAM

The bITjAM is an event where with guests ranging from laptop performers to experimental bands either jamming with the Audiocongress or performing their own set.

bITjAM has been a regular event since November 2006. It has seen visitors traveling from all over the UK and from Europe to perform .

The event has a following in the experimental music scene in the US, Denmark as well as the Netherlands thanks to performers, record labels and media companies who have given their time to support the events.

The bITjAM incorporates freeform visuals as well as electronic music and welcomes open minded artists, poets, medias, promoters who will give their time freely for the non-profit events.

The bITjAM's are FREE entry because we work hard to keep it that way

Audiocongress

The Audiocongress is the band consisting of Bigun (Vocals, Ableton, synths, percussion, guitar), Philsy (Synths, bass guitar) Matt (Bass guitar, MS-20 synths and main engineer) Carl (Guitar, Synths, Ableton, Reason and Reaktor)

There's a fair mix of playing styles in the Congress, Philsy's classical keys and synth lines mixed with the 5 string funk bass or pure analogue synth bass from Matt the Commander, there's Bigun who's pretty much adaptable at most things including synths, vocals, soundscapes and Carl who kind of plays blues lead lines, synth noises and live sampling.

The Audiocongress set

Each set is improvised depending on the occasion, in some smaller gigs the minimal set up makes use of ableton, reaktor and reason on the laptop, however in the long playing sets there's much more hardware involved and live sequencing going on.

The Workshops

We have now commenced running workshops for the Stoke Youth Service and are currently taking requests for more. We have provided a website with an introduction to the workshops and also to look at what resources are available around the internet.

The PAINTED HOUSE on Goldenhill has been SAVED!!!

An entrepreneur from Manchester pledged the money for the mortgage (for a future commissioned artwork from Steve) and saved the Painted House from repossession!

City Voices Festival of words and music March 2009 – Looking for musicians for this event. BITJAM would be cool I reckon

City Voices is an Arts Council funded project from Stoke on Trent in Staffordshire. We meet fortnightly at Central Library, Hanley to write and perform our creative writing. We are currently organising our third festival to be held in late March 2009.

The last two festivals of words and music have been very successful and have been supported by such well - known artists as the Boat Band and the Trent Vale Poet. We have enjoyed coverage in the local press and are committed to making this festival even bigger and better than the previous ones.

Although the group mostly consists of poets and authors, there are also a number of musicians, and we would like to widen in this direction in the future. We are looking for talented musicians or bands, which are willing to perform at this Festival of words and music for free. All proceeds at the Festival will go directly to the Douglas Macmillan Hospice, which I am sure you will agree is a very well deserved local charity that is close to a lot of our hearts. I am sure it will get plenty of positive publicity in the local press, and I hope you will join us in helping to raise not only our own profile but your own, while helping this fantastic organisation to prosper and help many more families in the area..

If you are interested, or would simply like to be involved in some way, then do please contact for more information:

INCOMING!

Feb 5 2009 7:01 PM

Welcome to INCOMING!

A currently shite MySpace page for Midlands bands only.

The point is to use this page to advertise your gigs, wears and to keep in touch with other likeminded bands in the area without feeling like a complete arse for filling fan pages with junk mail. You know who you are!.

Promotions companies may also join so that if they're looking for bands to play a venue in the Midlands, all they have to do is visit this page for local bands to choose from and they have a full spectrum of sounds.

So if you're a new, up and coming talent in the midlands, whether you're a generic Indie band or Cock Rock band get your name down on the list!!!!!

Thankyou for listening

The project is being funded by the Arts Council, but thats not down to me, I joined the project after the Axis festival and have been helping them to promote it (like I do haha)

Got them all day slots at Burslem Park festival and one or two other things.

It's very low key, and slow pace, but the people involved have a lot of heart and soul and put 100% into it.

Thanks for adding me, and I'm sure the people visiting this page will be interested in Bitjam project, which I would love to get involved in again in the future

Who knows maybe poetry and Bitjam could get together sometime, would be intersting!!!!!

thanks mate
