A jam session on the front porch of an old log cabin in the mountains on a clear, cool autumn night where the crickets outside are chirping and the fire inside burns strong throughout the night.
The Carolina Story began officially in the month of October, year two-thousand and eight during a conversation on the open road headed back to our home of Memphis, Tennessee. We had just commenced a week-long adventure in the mountains of North Carolina and our hearts were dead set on the horizon and what laid ahead for us. We both knew that this was what we were destined for and couldn't believe that our childhood dreams were coming true. During a deep conversation about our dreams to play music, the future, and life in general, the name Carolina Story came up in reference to what we wanted to name our first baby girl, God willing we have one. The name seemed to click and we knew that we had finally found a name for this God-given music project that was well underway. But, if you want the whole story I guess you would have to go back to August the third, year two-thousand and seven. By the power of God alone, He orchestrated the meeting of two singer/songwriters from two different worlds. Emily Olson from the town of Lennox, South Dakota and Ben Roberts from White Hall, Arkansas. We found ourselves being led to VISIBLE School Music and Worship Arts College in Memphis, Tennessee. (Which is a whole other story in itself) The long story unfolds as we met, fell in love and became engaged, forming a bond spiritually and musically. As months passed and more music was being written, we realized that this was not just any other project. This was a small piece of a very large puzzle that only God himself could construct. We want to offer hope to a an ever-changing world through the music we create. We want to be pleasing in His sight. We want to share our hearts with you. Chapters One and Two are the first combined efforts musically of our lives just starting to intertwine artistically as one. Like great novels, these projects are just the beginning chapters to many sequels. We encourage you to listen closely as the blending is revealed and stirs the soul. As our story continues and is shared lyrically, we extend an open hand to you and ask you to join us and become a part of this amazing story. The Carolina Story.
