Shep Meyers passed away today. Shep composed the music to Sunshine Morning with words by Bob Dorough. Bob played piano for me on this song / track 14 on my CD. Please have listen and pay tribute to Shep. I am honored to have been the first to record his song.

You decide... but I combine a blend of jazz and a pinch of pop music together for what I think is an interesting sound. People have told me that I have a "nice smooth sounding vibe" going and some folks identify it as influenced by Anita O'Day with a bit of Norah Jones, Diana Krall, Shirley Horn and a touch of Tierney Sutton. In other words....... Have You Met Miss Jones?

Hi, I’m Carolyn Lee Jones and what I would like to do most –
is to sing for you!
PAST - Midwest girl does good? What a funny old expression! I was born and raised in Nebraska. Go Big Red! One day I hopped on a bus with 21 suitcases and boxes, $200, my best friend in tow and off we went to "Big D" yes, Dallas Texas!
PRESENT - My dream and desire of becoming a professional musician and vocalist has in fact come true. I now perform regularly in New York City, Dallas and abroad!.
A few years ago, I had a very important birthday, and decided it was now or never. I would perform, as I had always wanted to, LIVE with a full band as the main vocalist. No more karaoke or choirs. I secured a fantastic nightclub in Downtown Dallas and invited 80 of my friends and family. Guess what? They all came! Julie Bonk, pianist and bandleader , helped me pull it off. Thankfully, Julie had enough presence of mind to have us record the event! Two gown changes and four hours later the party was a success and a new singer and performer emerged!
Julie Bonk was also Norah Jones’ piano and voice teacher in Dallas and Dr. Bob Lawrence started the Dallas School of Music. Both of these two fine musicians originally guided me through their versions of theory and jazz and assisted me early on in "getting my musical chops together". On a classical note, I studied with well respected voice teacher Joan Tallis. And, I would certainly be remiss if I did not mention my NYC mentor, singer and friend Ms. Trudi Mann.
FUTURE - My glass is always more than half full. In fact it is always overflowing! I love life and everything it has to offer and I must say, life has been very good to me. So call me. I would love to sing for you! If you are looking for a solo vocalist or the complete band, it would be my pleasure to make that happen.
The Amara Group and The Revelry Lounge are collaborating to bring all the fabulous people of Astoria (and all over of course) a much needed new music & party scene. I would like to personally invite you to our "Totally 80's Thursday,,...9;s" launch party @ Revelry Lounge on October 8th. A night filled with all our favorite tunes from an irreplaceable era, that offered unprecedented creative and musical diversity to the industry on whole. DJ Suicide Blonde spinning it across the board from 80's old school r&b & hip-hop to rock, new wave and brit prop. Live performances are a must for us, so you won't want to miss the artists bringing their much apprceciated talents to the table as well.
