Ask Cincinnati singer songwriter Carrie Sample why so many continue to pack into little rooms and venues in support of the the artist's music, she'll tell you she's convinced all of her new fans, turned friends enjoy the shows because "it's the only time I stop talking!"
It's true. Sample is not short on words. But she can sum it up in just three why at 30 years old she transplanted from Northwestern PA to Cincinnati, OH.
"To play music."
After college at Miami University in Oxford, OH, "all of my friends got real jobs and moved to Cincy," sample said. "Me, I'd gone home and waited tables and played guitar."
The move to Cincinnati was just a "gamble, a "shot in the dark."
Almost two years later, it's a gamble she's glad she took. She spends a lot less time waiting tables and a lot more time playing guitar.
The acoustic/pop artist managed to crack the local scene in just a few months, landing the opening slot for Jem George's nationally touring Chicks Rockfest. And recently she participated in the Southgate House series, "One More Girl on a Stage."
Her energetic performances feature her intensely original vocals. But she claims, "I think the draw is my dancing (laughs)."
"I'm having a lot of fun with music right now. I'm grateful for the positive response I've had. Being an artist of this style and of this genre, you really have an opportunity to infect people with a little energy. It's great."

That really sucks cuz we have like 2 loafs left out of 5 we made last week. We put them in the freezer and I think we are going to make more on the weekend. Maybe I can over night some to you! If not you just have to wait till I get back and I'll sneek a loaf or two onto the plane. Hope they don't catch me smuggling zucchini bread.
I don't know, though. A real, quality harp is about 2-3k, so a 4k one would be like buying a Martin instead of a Fender. Not necessarily a serious harp, but not one to sit in the corner and gather dust.
Cover "All This Love" by the Similou. That's obscure for you.
And I dunno... maybe they owned a music shop and never sold it? Seems like dropping 4 grand on a harp would mean you want to play it, you know? Unless they are like the first chair (is their a second chair?) harp-ist for the CSO and they get free harps. I dunno.
