Cary Scope is a singer/songwriter and working musician based out of New York City who has recently taken up residence in South Florida. Cary had been leading his band, “Baby Johnson” at The Red Lion music venue in the heart of Greenwich Village every Friday night for 14 years. In addition, Cary has been a regular performing act at NYC’s top music venues such as The Bitter End, The National Underground, Joe’s Pub, The Back Fence, Prohibition and Rockwood Music Hall. In October 2009, Cary performed as part of the annual NYC Cabaret Convention at Lincoln Center Jazz--Rose Center.
Cary’s musical repertiore covers all genres, and he has one of the most extensive song lists on the local NYC circuit. Whether performing solo, duo, or with his band, Cary has the ability to entertain any venue and any occasion. Over the years, Cary has shared the stage with many great artists and national acts. His band features an eclectic rotating group of musicians who also play for such names as Paul McCartney & Wings, Billy Joel, Queen w/ Paul Rogers, Steely Dan, Deep Purple, Moby, Enrique Iglesias, Joe Cocker, and many others.
Cary has developed a reputation in NYC as one of the hardest working musicians, usually performing up to 300 shows per year. His fellow musicians refer to him as “The Human Jukebox” due to his amazing ability to cover songs that would stump many other accomplished singer/guitarists.
In addition to performing live, Cary has released 3 CDs of his original material and continues to compose songs for other artists. Cary worked as a staff songwriter and producer for El Records, owned and operated by 3 time Grammy nominated Ernie Lake, who has produced and mixed albums for such artists as Britney Spears, Usher, Mary J Blige, and Shania Twain.
