Le nom Catuvolcus, signifiant Loup de Combat en gaulois, désigne également un chef de la tribu des Éburons. Créé en 2007 par Pierre-Alexandre Plessix (a.k.a. Segomaros) , Catuvolcus hèle de Warwick dans le plein cœur du Québec. La même année, une première démo intitulé O.R.F.C est autoproduite. À cette époque ..Catuvolcus.. n’est qu’un simple projet solo caractérisé par un black métal primitif et agressif abordant des thèmes lyriques axés sur l’univers celtique.

Vers la fin 2008, Segomaros fait la connaissance de musiciens de sa région. Quelques mois plus tard, le groupe produit son premier album intitulé Vae Victis. Après quelques prestations scéniques aux côtés de groupes underground québécois renommés, les trois autres membres quittent simultanément par manque d’intérêt en Mai 2010.

C’est alors que Segomaros décide de mettre fin aux performances scéniques du groupe et se concentre sur l’élaboration d’un nouvel opus. Pour cet enregistrement, il fait appel à deux musiciens session, Keven Bélanger (a.k.a Matrak) à la basse et Maxime Côté (a.k.a Arkeron) à la guitare. C’est en Août 2010 que commence l’enregistrement de l’E.P Terres de Sang composé de six titres épiques remémorant la bravoure, l’honneur et le courage des peuples gaulois.

Enfin, Catuvolcus joue un Métal Noir Gaulois et Folklorique et ne cherche pas à apposer une étiquette définitive sur sa musique.

The name ‘Catuvolcus’ means ‘Combat Wolf’ in Gaul and also represents a Gaul chief of the Eburons tribe. The project was created in 2007 by Pierre-Alexandre Plessix (a.k.a. Segomaros). Catuvolcus hails from Warwick located in the very heart of Québec. In the same year, the first demo the self-produced demo O.R.F.C was released. At that time, Catuvolcus was just a simple solo project characterized as primitive black metal with lyrical themes based on the Celtic universe.

At the end of 2008, Segomaros met other musicians from the same region. Few months later, the band produced their first album entitled ‘Vae Victis’. After various gigs alongside other underground bands of Québec, the three band members left the band due to lack of interest. This happened in May 2010.

Afterwards, Segomaros decided to give an end to the scene performances so to focus more on the elaboration of a new opus. For this record, Segomaros found two session musicians, Keven Bélanger (a.k.a. Matrak) on bass and Maxime Côté (a.k.a Arkeron) on guitar. In August 2010 the recording of the E.P. ‘Terres de Sang’ begun! The E.P. contains six epic tracks in homage to the bravery, honour and wisdom of the Gaul civilisations.

Catuvolcus plays Gaul Folk/Black Metal and they don’t want to be categorized under any other genres..
