Born in the summer of 2009 from a project by Luisa Catucci and run with help from Hripsime Pagliarini and Igor Falcomata,
Cell63 artgallery represents a wide range of emerging artists from the international art scene and beyond coming from various backgrounds,
ranging from figurative-imaginative works to illustration, from deviant art to stuckist painting.

Cell 63: your personal window with a view on Wonderland.

The exhibitions rotate approximately every four weeks with a new opening the first Friday of the month.
A selection of works by the gallery’s favourite artists is available at all times.
Original artworks and limited edition prints can be purchased in person and (soon) online.

Curiosity: the Gallery takes its name from not-so-obvious sources:
the number 63, in Italian popular numerology’s tradition, is the number who protects artists and dreamers,
plus “Cell63” is a quotation of the underground movie by Richard Elfmann, Forbidden Zone:
“Just to let you know, Cell63 is where the King of the Sixth Dimension keeps his favourite concubines”.

-FEAR OF DARKNESS?-



The Bogeyman is the last frontier in the politics of anxiety – pure, primeval fear. Different from terror, it is more similar to a drop that falls on your head and slowly and unconsciously drives you crazy.
Our weird world is acknowledging the existence of the Bogeyman.
Security anxiousness, fear of one’s neighbours, a confused, convulse grudge seeping from everywhere, tend, in these tough years, towards a natural end with the advent of the Bogeyman.
We won’t need to invoke/create/invent alarms or dangers anymore: everybody will fear darkness and, just by invoking the Bogeyman, any complicated social engineering manoeuvre will find its justification.
The Bogeyman is better than terror: he does not kill you at once – it wears you out and makes you change your gaze upon reality in a schizoid loop.
Borrowing some scraps of Kurt Vonnegut’s wise words, we could say that in this word of thousand opportunities of being swallowed up by anxiety, fear and distress, everything that can happen will probably do so.
Step aside while you’re in time!
