One bored and lonely Cheltenham exile mourns the loss of his djing slot and misses his beloved Calmer nights. He decides to give Cheltenham a bit of a kick to see if it stills moves. Chapter 24’s aim is to occasionally promote genuinely interesting, exciting and experimental live music in relaxed surroundings; To provide a genuine alternative to all the “boring Djs” but keep people dancing all the same, though i must say we’re doing this because we love djing and watching people dance. To take risks; To bring people together in a comfortable environment, so they can hatch schemes, plot wild adventures that would otherwise remain dreams and have a great time. Fire, Love, Magic & Music, in equal doses. Welcome.
Who I'd like to meet: nice and friendly folk who dig music. A quiet drink & a louder one too. Somebody who’ll sell me the One In A Million single for a tenner, a good cook, those who like walking out of town into the hills, people who go to bed early Saturday evening to get up early on Sunday for the Car Boot. The first person in the club & the last customer at work. Somebody who saw Lonnie Donegan play in the basement of 38 Priory Street in the fifties. Or alternatively, somebody that has the means to take me back there. People who don’t think Scott Walker is awful. Somebody who digs the one-string guitar break on Bob Lander’s Cherokee Dance. Somebody who would let me share their winter retreat in the country for a while. Anyone who would love to put some time and effort into Chapter 24. People who love Born To Run by Bruce Springsteen. Real ghosts. The enterprising and inventive.in these parts. Pete Seeger. Charley Patton, Bukka White and Son House all playing in the same joint. The guy from LCD Soundsystem over fantastic coffee. The guy who dreamt up the much-missed Rooty Fruity, just so I could tell him “I was your best customer – come back”. People who like going to weird places to make music. And Bunker Hill if he’s still hiding out there somewhere.

One of the highlights of the Vortex London Jazz Festival – TIME OUT
Featuring Fyfe Dangerfield (from Guillemots), Gannets posit an alternative jazz history in which 30's swing developed straight into a combined form of the free jazz and fusion movements, without any of the intervening decades.
Fyfe Dangerfield - keyboards + electronics Alex J Ward - clarinet Christopher Cundy - bass clarinet Dominic Lash - double bass Steve Noble - drums
thanks, nice poster.. well things are very unpredictable for me right now and it looks like there is still a chance i could make your gig after all!. its just the franetic movements of unspun systems in the economic growth plan are unwinding themselves around my feet and i don't know who to listen to any more. anyway - if i can make the gig i'll be there bottom.
