CHASE FRANK is the one woman guitar storm. Armed with her loop & effect pedals she weaves semetrical patterns, mezmerizing as she blends torch vocals, vintage guitar and witicism. In her nine lives she has produced California festivals, organized show upon show, worked with folks like Alan Ginsberg & Patti Smith, & toured the nation in support of her thee solo albums. Originally from Long Beach, CA she now resides in Austin, TX. Band mates are project-based and have included La Dawn Best, Ahmad-Jamal Butler and a delicious array of guests. Currently in Austin, TX, she is joined on drums for live shows by native bad-ass/drummer Alan Boatright. Tours including regional artists. She is currently working on her 4th album. Please pick her last release, which continues to receive positive critiques from even the most jaded music critic....it's called "MIDNIGHT MANOR" (EP). Hells yeah.

(DEAR BANDS, we had to block band adds, due to huge spam & auto-add bullshit, please send us a message if you want us to add you and we truly have something in common).

Midnight Manor EP
Jan 8, 2008, Self released, 23 min
---------------------------------------------------

DETROIT METRO TIMES, Jeffrey Morgan
SIZZLING PLATTER OF THE WEEK: Chase Frank — Midnight Manor (self-released) :: Chase is a girl and, boy, can she ever write, sing and play a whole host of everything, from deep-sixed dirges ("Sad Song") and upbeat rockers ("Doubt") to decadent Euro-sautéed cabaret torch numbers ("Bipolar Belle"). I also get the feeling that’s she’s got a loose screw or two rattling around somewhere in that big beautiful brain of hers — always a plus in my book. (Oct. '08)

LEFT OF THE DIAL MAG (.com) "Chase Frank comes off like the moody side of Patti Smith and the unerring arcade symbolist poetry of PJ Harvey, especially on tracks like "Doubt," with its slightly funky drumming and ghostly guitar whispers on one hand and a dampened post-punk blues crunchiness on the other. Her voice withers and wraps around your cerebrum with a dire sense of otherness and abjection...." (Aug '08

PERFORMING SONGWRITER / EP REVIEW
"This seven-song set casts Frank and her bandmates in a mostly menacing light, be it the arch exhilaration of "Doubt" or the ominous strains of "Some Friend You Are" and "Six Degrees." Predictably, edge and attitude win out. Clearly, the lady is a vamp." (July/Aug. 08 DIY section)

THE DISTRICT WEEKLY (Ziegler) --HOMETOWN LOVE
'CHASE FRANK SUPERSTAR'
Chris Ziegler on Chase Frank, June 26, 2008

"Her new album—white cover, white heat"...."lean clipped loop-unit-blues with iron vigor like PJ Harvey and a little of the outsider wildness of guys like George Brigman or Michael Yonkers."

SXSW 2008 / AUSTIN CHRONICLE
AUSTIN CHRONICLE! SXSW 2008
Melanie Haupt came to the YARRR PR / Greyday Records day party I played w/Ahmad & and said they "they specialize in angry, confessional lo-fi rock". Guilty as charged, Melanie!

MTV.COM RECOMMENDS CHASE'S EP
Yep, guess me and T-pain rolled out on the same day. Also Patti Smith's release was 1/8/08, same day as Midnight Manor. It's a weird world.

OC WEEKLY -- 'LOCALS ONLY'
"...mean lean rock that’s set to slow boil. “Bipolar Belle” waltzes darkly with the standard “My Favorite Things,” adding flinty guitar accents and forbidding vocals in the vein of ex-Geraldine Fibbers front woman Carla Bozulich."

< LONG BEACH MAGAZINE ...."follows closely along the lines of great bands like Portishead and the fuzz-crunchiness of Sonic Youth. The thirteen songs on her album prove that you only need one to make it happen." Valdas Karalis, LONG BEACH MAGAZINE

OC WEEKLY 2005 ....a "one woman guitar storm".
Chris Ziegler, show preview, 2005

BIG WHEEL MAGAZINE
" 'Front Lines' and 'Twelve Hours to Go' are some great songs with some thinly veiled opinions on certain topics in the U. S. Watch out Chase, or Dick Cheney might come shoot you in the face."
Boyd Wunder, 2006

COLLECTED SOUNDS, SWEDEN
"My Captor" is a startling lo-fi exercise in sound that recalls Sonic Youth.....The white-hot intensity of "Tethered Heart" is accomplished with the slightest of instrumentation. But Frank's vocal is strong enough to carry it. " Anna Maria Stjärnell, COLLECTED SOUNDS
Stockholm, Sweden COLLECTED SOUNDS REVIEW

TIM'S BEFUDDLED UNIVERSE
"Kaki King turned me onto little girls with big guitars. I've started looking out for good women solo guitar players. If you like guitar without gimmicks, I expect you'll like Chase Frank's latest CD, ....Winter Is My Summer''. Chase Frank's music will catch many people by surprise, but, if they take the time to catch up with her, I believe they will be aptly rewarded for their effort." Short, but oh so sweet. Chase Frank's debut is perfect on so many levels. Her voice is a flexible instrument that suits her music's free spirit well.

Hello!
I was just wondering when your next concert in Austin is going to be? :)
I see that you're putting on another Pool Party at the Metropolis, which is awesome. The one during March was very cool, and I also saw your show with That1Guy in April as well.
I just can never get enough live music! haha!

Aug 16 2009 1:55 AM

hey. just emailed my sister about staying and cheap air fare. hopefully she has some ideas.

the summer time is truly a bummer time. went for a walk yesterday to the mailbox, it's not close, and got a big ass blister on my foot.

finally got my machine back today. 70 bucks. :( nothings cheap, although I think that was pretty affordable. I have been really unlucky lately. first the car then the machine. makes me frustrated.

went to a job fair for Kohls on wednesday. what a waste of time. 5 hours sitting and waiting to see if they would call me and when they did it was a group interview for part time work that pays 8 dollars an hour. lame. there were at least 300+ people there the day I was there and that was on the third day with one more day to go. odds are really horrible. not like I'd work there anyway or would get the job. don't think that the masters degree helps. let alone two. he he.

hope your doing good

what? what's the difference
