The Cheaters have released their self-titled debut album, and high expectations are about
to meet the naked truth.
With tunes like “I Found Love” and “I Might Be Evil”, The Cheaters ensnares their
audience with dirty, 60’s-infested rock ’n’ roll. Their music however also expresses a
more sensitive side through tracks as “Oh Woman”, that flirts with summer-tanned girls,
playing footsie under the table. That courtship abrubtly ends in “Where’s Your Pride”,
but one does have an image to maintain. And besides, girls love bad boys. That might be
the rationale the band is running with anyway.
Henrik W. Kristiansen had just one condition the day he and Oyvind Skarsboe decided to
start a band: under no circumstances should Oyvind be the vocalist — they had known
each other since childhood and had done The Animals impressions since they were
eleven. Henrik didn’t recall Oyvind being the next Eric Burdon.
But when they were about to record their first EP, there was no time to find another
songbird. Oyvind had to lay down the vocals and suddenly a kept talent was revealed. He
shone like a supernova and The Cheaters had found their vocalist. Everyone attending
their early gigs knew that they were witnessing something unique, and that this band was
truly destined for bigger things. But it was still a surprise to the boys when they were
asked to play at Denmark’s Roskilde Festival in 2006, and then at Asthon Court Festival
in the UK, just before Simple Minds, in front of thousands of ecstatic Brits. The trio
crowned last summer with the launch of their EP and a trademark killer of a concert at
Oslo’s Oya festival.
At the end of 2006 their boyhood dream came through when they played at Oslo’s
rock’n’roll HQ, Last Train. With new arrival Andreas Froland on bass, The Cheaters
ended a successful year in their favourite environment, live on stage. Subsequently the
trio have explored the continent, and the continentals have explored the trio. Even MTV
substantiated this summer’s success.
Inductive music which enchants girls and disengages boys. Long live The Cheaters!

Ompakaras fele høres denne gangen ut som en Marimba , banjoen er bytta ut med stringswing flamenco gitar, og det trente øre vil høre et godt gammeldags 70 talls stueorgel vugge med.
