The Cheer Advisory Council formed in Adelaide, Australia in late
2008. Since then, the Council has played with the likes of Lamplight,
Jordie Lane, Eva Popov, Me and the Grownups, We Grow Up and the legendary Tim Rogers.
It all begins with the songs. The Head Councillor has been putting the pieces together for years, throwing words
together, crafting his every sordid, awkward experience into melody.
He's not sure whether he should be doing that. He's constantly
reminded of things he’d rather forget. He winds his intimate
narratives around infectious melodies, and hopes one day he'll be
able to answer any or all of the questions he might ask.
Then there’s the band. Seven musicians. Some conservatorium graduates, others just crashing through. Lightly-brushed drums meet
with intricate piano, peppered with meandering violin, served with a
side of purposive guitar. Three-part harmonies, five voices crashing
against a sharp but delicate musical backdrop.
Switching Sides and Accommodating are the first tastes of an album
due in 2010, recorded by Matt Hills (Wolf & Cub, Fire! Santa Rosa,
Fire!, The Lucksmiths, Ricaine).
