It is a beautiful fall day in Los Angeles; we have agreed to meet in a café near his shooting location for a recent Target campaign, a favorite spot of mine where Sanaa Lathan played one of the scenes in the romantic comedy “Something New” with Simon Baker. He stands up to welcome me and dismisses my flustered apologies with an old-school charm.
Beyond his looks, which speak for themselves, Ndiaye projects both gallantry and soft spoken humility; with his jeans and t-shirt, easily filched from any one of his designer shoots.
Ndiaye is perhaps still best known for his endless appearances in Target stores across the country, where I’ve seen him appear so many times I almost label him the face of Target for men’s fashion but that is just a scrape on the surface of what this talented Senegalese has accomplished in an industry that is so competitive. He has managed to keep busy for years working full time, comfortably supporting his family in a field where many struggle for the solo modeling opportunity here and there while making ends meet in some dead-end low income job.
“I am very happy and feel very blessed to be successful in this field that is so competitive.” says Ndiaye “To be one of the very few Africans or African Americans for that matter being used to represent some of the biggest brands world wide is a blessing. Each booking for me almost feels like the first time. Whether my agency calls me to tell me that I just booked the new Gap Campaign or Tommy Hilfiger or that I am Wilson’s Leather’s new face, it is always an amazing feeling. I have also walked for some of the biggest designers like Gucci, Ralf Lauren, Calvin Klein, Sean John among others. I am so grateful to one of my best friends, Michael Maddox, who is one of the best runway coaches and fashion producers in the business. He has helped me tremendously through my career.”

Narrated ‘Abdullah bin Mas’ud, Allah’s Messenger said,
“He who has, in his heart, a grain of arrogance will not enter Paradise.” Someone said. “How about a person who likes to wear beautiful clothes and shoes?” Allah’s Messenger said, “All of Allah’s Affairs are Beautiful and He likes beauty; arrogance means ridiculing and rejecting the Truth and despising people.” (Muslim)
Allah is to be acknowledged for beauty that bears no resemblance to anything else, and He is to be worshiped by means of the beauty which He loves in words, deeds and attitudes. He loves His slaves to beautify their tongues with the truth, to beautify their hearts with sincere devotion (Ikhlaas), love, repentance and trust in Him, to beautify their faculties with obedience, and to beautify their bodies by showing His blessings upon them in their clothing and by keeping them pure and free of any filth, dirt or impurity, by removing the hairs which should be removed, by circumcision, and by clipping the nails. Thus they recognize Allah through these qualities of beauty and seek to draw close to Him through beautiful words, deeds and attitudes. They acknowledge Him for the beauty which is His attribute and they worship Him through the beauty which He has prescribed and His religion. The hadeeth combines these two principles of knowledge and behavior.

I think one of the greatest treasures we have in life are choices. The choices you choose should be the ones that come from your heart and that best suit you. When you start making choices based on other people's opinions, pressures or conviction... You start living for them and not yourself. Don't dwell on the bad choices you've made, learn from it, grow with it and decide to make a better choices from it. Most importantly be happy with it!
Let your choices shape you to be the person you want to be and the life you want to live.
