Ling Peng is a classically trained Chinese musician, whose accomplishments on the Erhu (two-string violin) have captivated audiences the world over.
As a dedicated purveyor of native Chinese Music, Ling has dedicated her life to bringing the soul-moving sounds of peace and tranquillity to the forefront of musical entertainment.
Ling is a graduate of the Sichuan Conservatory of Music, where she continued to invest her talents as a teacher before transferring to the Central Conservatory of Music to further her own musical education under the tuition of Professor Lan Yu Song.
In 1991 Ling moved to the UK to promote her work to a more diverse audience with the help of other Chinese artists.
Ling has performed at a variety of renowned locations, including the Purcell Room and Queen Elizabeth Hall at the Southbank Centre in London, the Croydon Concert Hall and the British Museum.
Ling’s art has developed through continuous research into Traditional Chinese Music and in 2006 she established the traditional 6-piece Chinese music ensemble “Chinese Whispers”.
Chinese Whispers Ensemble performed a series of 90 minute concerts comprising both traditional and contemporary pieces that were warmly received by audiences during their 10-venue tour of the East Midlands throughout the spring of 2007.
Ling has also collaborated with actress and storyteller Nicky Rafferty to produce a theatre performance under the name Whispering Dragons which combines live Chinese music and storytelling. The aim was to bring Chinese culture to life by providing an entertaining and educational opportunity for young children to learn about other cultures. Together they have performed ninety shows with audiences totalling more than eight thousand.
