I am a Chippewa indian, I was born in the upper pennisula of Michigan, I belong to The Sault Ste. Marie tribe of the Chippewa indians. I am very proud of my heritage and enjoy talking to people about it. I enjoyed giving a speech at the school last year on native americans,I also put on a mini powwow at Badin Lake elementary school with a couple of friends. I brought all my artifacts to show them and explained what they were and how they were used. I think anytime we can educate our young people about our and their heritage we should. They miss out on so much by not knowing that.My totem is the wolf, & the Raven is my spirt guide, they have protected me my whole life.I want to learn everything I can about my tribe and native american people in general, after all we are the first true americans.I love to dance at powwows. I dance womans traditional, someday if my legs will allow it I would like to dance womans jingle.My regalia has the colors of my tribes flag on it, with turtles all over it, because of my name,Mizheekay Ikway (turtle woman) a friend of mine named Tabathia made it for me and I think she did a beautiful job, I am very proud of it. Eventually I would like to have white buckskin regalia, but that will be some time before I get it. I am the queen of The South Davidson Strutting Peacocks, which is a red hat group.Red hatters are a wonderful group of woman from all over the world. I drive a school bus and am a substitute teacher, I love all my kids, and I will do anything for them, I mentor two girls, One I have been mentoring for over seven years now and she has become like part of the family her name is Jennifer, she is a wonderful girl and she graduates this year and I am so very proud of her. The other one I just started mentoring, but she has rode my bus for years, her name is Lena, she is a very sweet girl that I know we will become very close, too. I do whatever I can to help the students at the school because they are our future and they all are wonderful.I am a artist, I love to paint murals, if you look at my photo album you will be able to see some of my murals, half of my house is done in murals and I love it, I am always coming up with something else to paint on my walls. I think it is very important to have a sence of humor and to be able to enjoy life. I have had a lot of people I love very much walk on into the spirit world, I miss them very much but I always carry them in my heart, and I know that someday when it is my turn to walk on we will all be together again. I love having a MYSPACE, I have met so many wonderful people here, I love animals of all kinds even snakes, I have a lot of animals too. I have a horse, goat, blind deer, 6 geese, 20 ducks,10 cats, 5 dogs, a parrot, a cocateil, 4 sugar glidders, and a prarie dog,I rescue turtles, I have had several 6ft. iguanas,and someday I hope to have a little capucian monkey.Well that will kinda give you an idea about me, if you have any questions just ask, I will be glad to answer you. .. - Get Your Own .. --------------------------------------- I would like to introduce my newest grandaughter to all of you: Miss Madison Lee Hastings born: Oct. 13, 2008 to Cheyenne & Brant weight: 6lbs. 13oz. length: 20 1/2 inches Her indian name is dragonfly and it fits her so well she is long and delicate like a dragonfly. we are all very excited about our little bundle of joy.She already in a weeks time has brought so much to all of our lives.I will continue to add pictues of her in the album marked Brant, Cheyenne, & Baby.
