Greetings, Friends and Patrons of the Myspace Universe.
My name is Chris and I'm a Philly musician. I primarily perform on Trumpet and Steel Pan, but I also play bass, percussion, recorder, and a little drum set. Most of the time, I perform jazz, funk, and caribbean music, but now and then I play with classical, folk, pop, african, and pop groups. I've been recording more and more and just recently began writing horns for people and teaching on the side. Just moved to West Philly this July after graduating from UARTS with a bachelors of music. I'm looking to play as much as possible so please hit me up. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I have been fortunate enough to have performed with Stanley Clarke, Dionne Warwick, Chaka Khan, Andy Narell, Vivian Greene, The O'Jays, John Swana, Wayne Brady, Ken 'Professor" Philmore, Melba Moore, Phil Roy, Freddie Jackson, Dave Allen, Oleg Kireyev, Carlo DeRosa, and Ray Holman. The projects that I have been regularly playing with these days are the Chris Aschman Group, Trinidelphia, Highbrid, Dr. Ketchup, The Dirk Quinn Band, Chico's Vibe, Fisher, the Patrick DeCaumette Septet, and Jazz Duos with my friend and roomate, Barney McKenna.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
The Chris Aschman Group is: Me - trumpet / steel pan, Korey Riker - sax - Barney McKenna - guitar, Leon Boykins - bass, and Joe Truglio - Drums. Tim Wendell, Masami Kuroki, and Ryan Kuhns have all helped us out in the past.
The clip below is from my senior recital last March, featuring yours truly and some of my favorite area musicians, performing Roy Hargrove's "Rich Man's Welfare". Enjoy!

hey chris! i haven't heard from you in a while...glad to see you have so many gigs scheduled. anyway i wanted to let you know that there is a letter addressed to you in our lobby. it doesn't have a return address. i was planning on taking it and putting it in safe keeping until i saw you again. sound good?
Thank you, Chris. Yeah that was a fun group. No jazz of late but plenty of Gospel which is at least as harmonically challenging as anything I've ever played. Mainly playing at church and rocking faces with The MLMs. We'd love your support at a show! Any Steel drum gigs coming up?
