CRITIQUES DE "THE FUNNY FALL:
..........................................................................................................................................
S'ajoutent à cet ensemble trois titres moins torturés, plus légers, presque sereins même si des ombres insaisissables semblent toujours prêtes à y prendre l'ascendant: 'In The Morning', 'Yes I Will' et 'Here We Are'." "Christophe Marc is starting to soar high with his talented vocals, lyrics and musical writing. I'm starting to see him flower like a small bud in summer and grow in strength, talent and artistry. His voice is like a rich apple tree, bearing such wonderful fruits. This enchanting, fantastic, atmospheric, magical indie, folk album, is amazing and charismatic, and full of great flavours. A must check out album for anyone." MUSICTOMYEARS

"The Funny Fall is a truly beautiful record. It delivers intense, moody songs whilst maintaining an elegant simplicity, and has emotional depths that plunge you headfirst into a warm, pensive state which shifts in and out of darker territory as the album moves along. With vocals reminiscent of Ian McCulloch of Echo and the Bunnymen and sometimes even Bowie, Christophe Marc achieves an impressive feat for a man who hails from Nantes, France - one could almost be forgiven for thinking that this is a classically English offering, such is Marc’s eloquent vocal delivery.
The whole album is excellent, but for me there are a few stand-out songs. ‘In The Morning’ tells a simple, melancholic tale of a one night stand with very few lyrics, but those few speak volumes. ‘Here Is The City (Chicago)’ is a very Bowie-esque song with wonderful echoey vocals and discordant, and disorientated music which transport you to a strange, unfamiliar city in which you feel you don’t quite belong. The banjo twangs that introduce ‘Yes I Will’ lead into a distorted, introspective song that is heavy of heart, but then suddenly and surprisingly uplifting before delving back into the darkness.
In an unusual ending, the album’s title track consists of 45 seconds of atmospheric, minimalist sounds, which play for you whilst the record melts gently away..
In all, this is a spectacular effort from an artist who really should be bigger than he is, so that he might dazzle a wider audience with his diverse, emotive and genuinely interesting music." SARA C. MORRISON for Insomnia Radio.

"The Funny Fall’ is, without doubt, an album tied to a certain tradition but it’s rather enjoyably broad in its influences. Throughout there are traces of a fair few different musical styles, not just Morrissey but hints of Robert Smith, David Bowie and a broad pantheon of downbeat Indie Pop luminaries. And yet, and this is the important bit, it still manages to emerge as an identifiably separate effort as opposed to a pure homage to its individual parts. I wouldn’t say that this was a strikingly original piece certainly but it’s not a cheap rip off either, it’s a very well made album which does what it does with what you might call the attitude of an equal, it’s not mimicking anything but standing side by side with what came before.
Beyond that little bit of gushing though ‘The Funny Fall’, beyond being a sound exemplar of it’s genre, still maintains some broader appeal. Even if you’re not normally moved to wearing black, smoking Gaulloise and reading poetry then this can still be listened to as a laid back, indulgently atmospheric piece. Like all good Pop, no matter how mixed in it is with the influences of other genres, this can play out comfortably without demanding any more attention than the listener is willing to offer and if alternatively you want to delve further into it then there’s enough depth to hold your attention.
So, well worth a download then, not revolutionary by any means but an admirable example of what it is." DYLAN YOUSIR ORCHARD.

Enjoyed listening to your music. There's a lot to discover here. The vocals toward the end of 'The Mistake' reminded me of Ian McCulloch. All the best -G
