   Chris Dawes's Blurbs
About me:
I'm the author of a book called Rat Scabies And The Holy Grail. It's the story of how my good friend Rat Scabies, the former drummer of punk pioneers The Damned, dragged me around France and Scotland in search of the Holy Grail.

Along the way, we hung out with esoteric gurus, treasure hunters, remote visionaries, alien channellers, vortex sorcerers, reincarnated medieval heretics and modern-day Knights Templars. We spent a lot of time in the mysterious village of Rennes-le-Chateau in the foothills of the Pyrenees, and also visited Paris, Lyon ("the esoteric capital of France") and Rosslyn Chapel near Edinburgh. While we were in Scotland, we managed to blag our way into a Knights Templar initiation ceremony, which was one of the strangest things I've ever seen in my life.

Rat Scabies And The Holy Grail has been described as "The Da Vinci Code gets the punk rock treatment". It has been reprinted several times in the UK and the US. It's also been translated into German and Russian.

In a previous life, I was a music journo, writing for Melody Maker under the pen name Push before becoming the editor of first Muzik and then Mondo. My pushspace page is here:

http://www.myspace.com/pushspace

As well as Rat Scabies And The Holy Grail, I am also the author of:

The Book Of E - All About Ecstasy (credited to Push and co-written by Mireille Silcott), Pussy (a collaboration with Steven Appleton, Paul Thompson and Mark Wernham), and Bitch (another collaboration with Steven, Paul and Mark).

Who I'd like to meet:

Hi Chris,

I enjoyed reading Rat Scabies and the Holy Grail a lot. I've put it on the top shelf of my bookcase among the pile of books that I go back to read again and again, which includes Cannery Row by John Steinbeck, The Catcher in the Rye by Jeromy Sallinger, Lennon Remembers by Jann Wenner, and the inevitable What Is To Be Done? by Vladimir Lenin.

By the way, when I was a student at the Ealing Tech in the late seventies (now part of Thames Valley University), I lived in Windmill Road in Brentford.

All the best,

Karl

If you still want your loft converting you should think about becoming an MP. You could get an extension at the back done at the same time and have it all paid for on expenses. Hubba hubba!!!!!

Your fellow supporters, resplendant in their Stoke City shirts looked chuffed to bits outdside the Pennyweight pub at 6 o'clock - if I was as fat as those rotund gentlemen I'd have been ashamed to be seen in public in my own street, never mind the market square of a northern town. 'Fat' is an understatement.

Goods luck in Division 3 (or whatever they call it next year)!!
