Imagination is the strongest muscle in the body.
Chubby Wolf, Dani "Chubbs", who also performed as half of the husband and wife duo, Celer, was an educator, poet, writer of prose, non-fiction, and social commentary, a painter, photographer, and an inventive musical multi-instrumentalist and vocalist. As a permanent member of Celer through marriage, she has created many self-releases, many unique and hand crafted, as well as works for labels in Japan, North America, and Europe. She had extensive background in Gender Studies, Education, Photography, and Tibetan Studies, as well as having lived and studied in India, Sri Lanka, and Nepal. She passed away on July 8, 2009 of heart failure. She will always be missed, and loved by her husband, cat, and two wolf dogs.
I am Danielle. Danielle is a collection of short fiction possibly written by Borges. Danielle has four arms, a third eye, and an immaculate sense of aesthetics. If I were alone in a room with Danielle, I would levitate and speak with the voice of god. I think Danielle should sign the Magna Carta. Danielle needs two cubes of sugar and socialism. I want to aggregate and index Danielle. Someday Danielle will rise to power amongst the Peronists and rule with an iron fist. Danielle reminds me of blank verse of the most epic variety. Without Danielle the ground would shake. Danielle can be one of the apostles, but she would need a time machine first. Best thing about Danielle is her split personalities and love of Plotinus. I am madly in love with Danielle (but I cover it up with hyperbole). Danielle, will you burn all of Walt Whitman's poetry before you die? Danielle's other car is a glass-blowing machine.

CHUBBY WOLF L’Histoire (Gears of Sand)
With a name like Chubby Wolf, tossed out amongst the half-dozen or so other artists using the word “wolf” as part of their nomenclature, you might not be mistaken if you thought it yet another in a long list of noise-affiliated projects. But wait: L’Histoire arrives released on the intrepid Gears of Sand imprint, well-noted for its now dense catalog of experimental drone and distinctive atmospheric music, so any ideas of noise to the contrary can be formally laid to rest. Quite the opposite this music is, in fact the polar opposite. Across eleven meticulously sculpted, wind-chapped, albeit sometimes chilly, pieces, adorned with titles such as “Anti-body Library”, “Inverted Windows”, and “You, My Luminary”, Chubby Wolf demand you close the windows, turn the lights down to a faint dim, and let these potent miasmatic toneshifts waft between the four walls as they insinuate themselves in your subconscious. Like the work of Pauline Oliveros, L’Histoire is an exercise in deep listening, one that makes that demand implicit on its participant. Though all attendant sounds were created with a seeming paucity of means (toy piano, a heart monitor, and the obligatory electronic processing), the ends are justifiably vivid and contemplative, even downright lustrous. The poetic lilt the artist lends to a piece such as “Lay the Voice to Rest, Fear Mist” is pure sensation, literally and figuratively, supple, if shrill, wisps of sound tendering a bleak landscape. That the artist can render such poignancy out of the barest of electronic materiél speaks volumes about how the softest approaches can often yield the most concrete results. Oh, and Chubby Wolf is Dani Baquet-Long, half of drone avatars Celer, which goes some way to explain how these tattered sonic pages uncurl to reveal the argot residing deep within its mysterious L’Histoire. This first compilation features 14 different contributions from artists living all over the world. the idea for the compilation grew out of a deep appreciation for music and the emotional influence it has on us. each artist was approached because of his/her unique sound aesthetic - they were not confined by a central theme or concept. the end result is a collage of sonic landscapes: warm tones, field recordings, drones, textures, digitized and analogue events, and other mysterious occurrences.

1. IJO – U. Me
What if I could have seen through your eyes, felt through your soul... Would I have touched that something in you ?... You are now beyond the threshold, but we have your smile forever... you were just an unlikely beautiful flower, Dani - rest in peace
So was I once myself a swinger of birches. And so I dream of going back to be. It's when I'm weary of considerations, And life is too much like a pathless wood Where your face burns and tickles with the cobwebs Broken across it, and one eye is weeping From a twig's having lashed across it open. I'd like to get away from earth awhile And then come back to it and begin over. May no fate wilfully misunderstand me And half grant what I wish and snatch me away Not to return. Earth's the right place for love: I don't know where it's likely to go better. I'd like to go by climbing a birch tree, And climb black branches up a snow-white trunk Toward heaven, till the tree could bear no more, But dipped its top and set me down again. That would be good both going and coming back. One could do worse than be a swinger of birches.

We had your album L'HISTOIRE drop through our letter box today, and it has been on repeat play ever since. Very haunting and chilling tones. We are both enjoying it very much. Really nice sound at the very end of the album too. Impressive work indeed.
