Circuitastrophe is a forum for people to present their Bent, Modified, Hacked, Robotic, and Electronic contraptions. Secondly it is designed to educate and engage critical thinking behind the designs, theories, and history of electronics using presentations, installations, lectures, workshops, performances, and a panel discussion.
I still need a few interesting cutting edge electronic folk to round out our Panel Discussion at the Contemporary Arts Center. We have filled our perormance slots, and have no more room for installations.
Special consideration will be given to people who are working with alternative power sources. Presentations about mechanical, solar, and chemical electrical process would be of great interest.
We are looking for funding; right now it's merch and the door. I am working on some sources for additional funds. I will post if successful. We will have potluck bbq dinners w/ veg friendly options. We will provide a floor on which to crash, maybe a couch. So bring a sleeping bag, air mattress, or hotel money. Someone suggested-on the same weekend- setting up a show for the MN and WI folk in Chicago, a possibility which I am looking into.
There are three primer events; one a circuit-bent performance on Mon, Sept 1st on W.A.I.F. 88.3 FM from 1PM-3PM featuring the French Crips. The second event later on the same evening (or early morning) of Sept 2nd, Midnight - 2:00 AM, The Art Damage Radio show will feature circuit-bent performers. The third event is an in-store circuit-bent performance at Shake It Records on Wednesday the 3rd of Sept. If anyone is interested in performing these shows please contact me.
Mark your calendars! The new Vaughn & Co. album (Coming Home) is set to be released! The show will take place on Saturday October 24th at Play by Play in Silverton. We will be joined by The Rusty Van Band and Aaron Patrick from Oval Opus. This going to be a great night of original music at a great venue! Hope to see you there
Make sure you check out the new songs from Coming Home on our page! There is also a review of the album in our blog section written by the folks at East Side Vibe! We will be featured in City Beat next week so pick one up!
