Based in Toronto, CJ SLEEZ is fronted by famous riot-girl rockstar CJ and backed by a select group of today’s hottest musicians (including Andrei Sin, Slick Nick and Alexander the Great), CJ SLEEZ is quickly gaining a loyal fanbase and generating a buzz echoed around the globe.
Drummer ALEXANDER THE GREAT aggressively conquers his kit, laying a powerful foundation with heart-pounding, pulse-racing, dramatically driving beats. He relentlessly cuts the edge of predictable rhythmic formulas; challenging conventional time signatures and broadening the borders that define typical hard rock.
‘SLICK NICK completes the rhythm section with powerful, running bass lines that melodically ground the group’s explosive sound.
Guitarist ANDREI SIN captures fans with his guitar, laying down infectious riffs that weave and layer themselves throughout the band’s emotionally saturated songs. MEET THE BAND-
CJ-
‘CJ SLEEZ’ was originally formed in Hamilton by CJ, who re-located to Toronto in 2000. A Leo known for her individualism, creativity, enthusiasm, and disdain for anything weak-willed or lazy, CJ lists some of her musical influences as ‘GNR’, The Stooges, L7, Nirvana, The Sex Pistols, Faith No More and Motley Crue. Her all-time favorite song is ‘Sympathy for the Devil’ and suggests that ‘Natural Born Killers’ was the best movie ever made because it’s romantic, comedic, horrific and thought provoking with an amazing soundtrack. Her other interests include photography and painting and she considers her best traits to be her bold fearlessness, determination and ability to think big. CJ’s favorite quote is “Dream as if you'll live forever. Live as if you'll die today” by James Dean.
Andrei-
Andrei Sin was born in Piatra Neamt, Romania and came to Canada in his late teens. He joined the band in Jan ‘08 and plays both a Gibson Les Paul and a Jackson RR1, through a ‘Cry Baby’ Dunlop pedal and a Marshal head with a half-stack. In his spare time Andrei enjoys wandering through the city aimlessly (or as he calls it ‘exploring’) and is interested in psychology, spirituality, politics and modern economics. He’s inspired by bands such as Black Sabbath, Judas Priest and Iron Maiden. An honest, intellectual, Sagittarius, Andrei has a tendency to get restless (especially before a show). He most values his problem solving ability, while admitting that at times he can be too critical of things. He is also known amongst his bandmates for his lengthy stories, which often include sound effects and inevitably leave them exchanging looks of utter confusion and amusement.
Nick-
Slick Nick Lemieux plays an Ibanez & a Fender bass through an Ampeg amp and joined the group in the fall of 2008. He credits his musical roots to classic rock bands such as Led Zeppelin, Pink Floyd and The Who, while he currently listens mainly to metal (Megadeath, Slayer & Opeth). He considers ‘Kill ‘em all’ by Metallica to be his most personally influential album. “Burton debuted on that album and that inspired me to become a metal bass player”, Nick explains. He likes green eyed girls and wearing his leather jacket. A passionate Scorpio with a good-humored, magnetic personality, Nick lists his best character traits as his thick lustrous hair, physical determination and loyalty to those he loves. When asked to share one thing about himself that he dislikes, Nick responded “What’s not to like?”
Alex-
Alex joined ‘CJ SLEEZ’ in the late summer of ’08 while also studying Chemical Engineering full-time at the University of Toronto. He’s a Pisces (imaginative, intuitive and selfless, yet vague) who’s lived in Toronto his whole life. Alex uses a Gretch drum kit with a double-kick and boasts a broad range of musical influences, from Miles Davis to the Beatles, to Jeff Beck, to Metallica and Coroner. Other influences include David Suzuki and alcohol. He prefers the cool, dry air of autumn, the colour green, and shares that ‘the Matrix’ is his favorite movie because of the story’s originality. He considers his most prized traits to be his pretty eyes and his sense of timing, while disliking his own impatience and conscience. In Alex’s opinion, the best thing about being a member of ‘CJ SLEEZ’ is looking good.
