About me:
C-Space is a community center at Clark Ave. & West 44th that encourages innovative educational, artistic, social and political programming led by Clevelanders of all walks of life. We house and support projects that grow from the visions of Cleveland residents, especially those in Clark-Fulton, aiming to build grassroots leadership person by person, day by day.
Currently, C-Space offers community resources like a computer lab with free Internet access, a library and community bulletin board, and a growing slate of programs. A full schedule of current programs is available at: www.clevelandspace.org.
C-Space especially encourages projects that:
- are initiated and run by a large variety of Greater Clevelanders, with an emphasis on residents of Clark-Fulton.
- build relationships between Clevelanders who don’t normally get the opportunity to interact socially or work together. In particular, C-Space projects aim to challenge boundaries between people due to racism, sexism, homophobia and prejudice against others because of age, social status or religion.
- are creative.
- are educational, C-Space promotes person-to-person skill-sharing, in which any community member can hold workshops on skills they have that may be useful to others: from needlepoint, to basic algebra courses, to self-defense.
- are motivated by the desire to build community and better individual’s lives, rather than to make a profit.
- make efficient, environmentally-sound use of resources.
- promote a do-it-yourself work ethic.
- strengthen links between social service and social justice campaigns and everyday Clevelanders.

Avidly involved in Cleveland's artscape for more than 10 years, Bob Peck's street art background continues to influence his work today. Recording our city with movement and texture, Bob paints surreal landscapes by layering spray enamel and acrylic paints. Creating gestural abstractions, he brings reflections of the past and present to his canvases. Nostalgic and diffused, these still lives offer an expression of connection and kinship to his surroundings.
"They Never Saw It Coming" chronicles the expansion of Bob's portfolio, from adolescence and adulthood. This transcension of work exhibits the artist's talents and progression from his early graffiti work to current fine art pieces. Opening reception 7-10 pm Friday, 20 June 2008

It took a long-ass time, but our big Cleveland STUDENTS FOR A DEMOCRATIC SOCIETY meeting is here! After being ignored by the library and going through its stupid beauracracy we found a meeting spot at the Cleveland Peace House, associated with Cleveland Peace Action. It will go down as follows: The time: 4:30 PM The Date: Saturday June, 21 The spot: Cleveland Peace House 10916 Magnolia Drive Cleveland, OH 44106 Contact: Drew n0mad000@hotmail.com Libby libertyandonions@gmail.com Josh davidsonjosh@sbcglobal.net
Hopefully, this will lead to the formation of a big Cleveland-wide SDS. We will also discuss: - How we can expand into more colleges and highschools in the Cleveland area - How we will maintain participatory democracy within Cleveland SDS and what that means - The nuts and bolts organizing of a Cleveland SDS (constitution, structure, dues if any at all, ect.) - What campaigns we’re gonna do this summer like anti-war, poor people’s campaign, ect. - What we’re gonna do at the Cleveland anti-war conference this summer - What we plan to bring to the national SDS convention this summer - Blah, blah, blah This will be a general brainstorming thing. Non-partisan facilitators, and moderators will be there to help the meeting run smoothly. There will be cookies and snacks. All your dreams will come true. Please bring your proposals, ideas, and thoughts. The Cleveland anti-war conference will be the following weekend; June 28 -29, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Cleveland.
