Cold Megan
"Cold Megan is the psychologically-distressed ramification of a recluse scientist sporting his classic punk influences with a rubicund, even hysterical glee." - Sam Rgini, Ultimate Guitar
Cold Megan is a group in the vein of the 70's New York and London punk scenes, classic horror punk; British glam of the 1970's, American garage rock and underground psychedelic guitar pop. Also present are elements of avant-garde proto-punk; hard rock; prog rock; early hardcore and thrash; and Australian new wave. Unlike their universally Americanised contemporaries in the punk genre, Cold Megan have instead strived to represent themselves with a transatlantic, even European feel.
The production sound is raw and lo-fi, with a nod to the magic recordings of yesteryear, placing emphasis on solidity; brevity; and a thick (some might say overbearing!) wall of guitars. Recording DIY continues to ensure that Cold Megan's mastertapes are free from the clutches of draconian record label tyrants and their misguided production conventions. Cold Megan oppose overcompression; vocal pitching and the loudness war. Nor are the records overpolished and restrained.
Cold Megan were formed by Kitten Skullfuck of underground glamsters, the Trash Kittens, with drummer Bareback Stiv Wallace of the avant-garde Pornographic Daguerrotypes. The Katzengesang project began as an attemprt to lay a choice selection of Kitten's extensive solo works on wax in the form of a listenable and consistent solo album.
Faithful to the sound defined by demos from 2004-2007, the songs on Katzengesang were strongly complimented but by the Jerry Nolan-esque skills of Wallace, subsequently warranting the launch of Cold Megan as a legitimate band.
Cold Megan offer both pure, unadulterated Dionysian excitement, but more importantly posess an intelligence and depth rarely found in gonzo rock music. Emphasis on substance, coupled with raw production and Kitten's mephistopholean imagery has by no means endeared Cold Megan in the eyes of everyone.

The second Cold Megan LP, 'Another Music For A Different Kitten', is scheduled to be recorded in May 2009.
Another 'greatest hits' package in the vein of Katzengesang, expect the increasingly depraved pop sensibilities of Cold Megan to be drawn from a much richer, more grandiose and orchestral timbral palette.
Cold Megan are still looking for a bass guitarist and lead singer based in the London/Kent area to complete their lineup. Please get in touch if you're interested!
