Commander Cody will be showing his paintings at the Sausalito Art Festival in Sausalito, CA Aug 29-Sept 2. This is the largest fine art juried showing in America.
His theme is "Music Moves Marin: They live here-they play here-some were just passing thru..." and include portraits of musicians near and dear to the Marin County heart.
We'll have Janis and Jerry thru influences like Jim Morrison with some jazz - Billie Holiday, Count Basie, Benny Goodman and blues and reggae stars.
Commander's art will be for sale in a silent auction format to benefit the festival and the Commander Cody Band will play before the Neville Bros. on Sunday, August 31!
"Drunks Dopers and Everyday Losers" - (or something kinda like that), will be the title of the new Commander Cody CD, coming out oon on Blind Pig Records. June 2008...The old commander has just inked a deal with his old Ann Arbor cohorts for project above named, to be released in time for the Commander's performance on the Legendary Rhythm & Blues Cruise in January 2009. Recording has already commenced in the Woodstock LRS Studios of producer Professor Louie of the CrowmatiX. Three tracks are down and more recordings are scheduled...
Commander Cody: "Dopers, Drunks, and Everyday Losers"
Ever since his wild early days as a front man for the Lost Planet Airmen, the Old Commander has plowed his own path through the fields of the American music scene as one of its few truly unique and iconoclastic figures. His special blend of old-time rock 'n' roll, redneck country, boogie woogie and swing has virtually defined American roots music. Finding the Commander "lost in the ozone" once more, this latest album will delight old and new fans alike with its mix of new songs and classics from the Cody catalog.
In 1975 while many kids in the dorm were listening to disco..I saw need for the world to be more Well Rounded by my offerings of Doc Watson, David Bromberg--and you.
It was like Big Fat Pond Ripples as other people followed suit...Plus-I had a friend who was a DJ on a popular nearby FM radio station-and he put up playlists of the stuff I liked--so people were getting you coming and going.

from the support your local musician department: Hey everybody, We've finally gotten our official website up and running (at least partiallly) and its' now possible to purchase our debut cd, "Behind the Eight Ball" (and other band goodies) through super-safe & secure PayPal...just follow the link to "Buy Stuff"...the rest of the links should be functional shortly. The cd has been mastered by former Bob Seger & The Silver Bullet Band drummer & Grammy winner David Teegarden, and in our own humble opinion sounds great!!! And, it costs a mere ten bucks!!! So if you want to help a cowboy out, and get to listen to some cool tunes too, just go to: cowboyalan.com Thanks to each and every one of you for all your support, without it we would never have reached this milestone...thanks again!!! warm regards, Bruce the bass player

Love your current version of one of your classic's Seeds and Stems. Makes me think of Nikki Larson when she sang it. I loved those days, but it's good to see you doing what the Commander does best! Hope you play out RI or Boston. Best to you,
