CONTROL – “Hooligan Rock 'n' Roll” CD
Terms such as best and greatest are often thrown around too lightly so they have lost their impact. However, in the case of this album by CONTROL it is the greatest debut street punk/Oi album ever! Imagine the best bits of THE BUSINESS, 4-SKINS, COCKNEY REJECTS, SHAM 69, etc rolled into one and you can begin to get the gist of “Hooligan Rock 'n' Roll”, yes it is that fucking good! There are hooks, sing-a-long choruses and biting political lyrics galore, all delivered in a no-holds-barred collection of punk rock songs. Tracks such as “Welcome To The Nanny State,” ”Spirit Of Boudicca” and “Sold Down The River” attest to the state of Britain in 2009. My favorite song though is “Ten Years Of Chaos” which should have you singing along on the first listen. What makes “Hooligan Rock 'n' Roll” such an amazing record is the lack of a weak song; everything deserves to be on here. I cannot wait to see CONTROL live!

Welcome to the Nanny State…….
We started in early 2008 and with our influences being deeply rooted in Punk and Oi!, with a smattering of Rock & Roll and anything with attitude. Once we put all our influences together, there was only one type of music that we would come up with, Hooligan Rock & Roll. It may not be for the purists, but it’s straight from the heart, the way it should be.
We write songs about the things that affect us in every day life and deliver them in a hard-hitting, attitude-soaked, comment-laden, infectious style, which we call Hooligan Rock & Roll.
No doubt we will be pigeonholed by the faceless, phoney, fashion-conscious poseurs for not jumping on the latest trendy bandwagon, by the pricks that think it’s more important to categorise a band rather than actually listen to their music. These people make us sick.
We are not the only ones who believe that we live in what is fast becoming a Police State with nearly every aspect of our lives being monitored and controlled, hence our name. This does however give us the subject matter for many of our songs. To this end, we would like to personally thank half-baked, self-centred, short sighted, money-grabbing, intellectually challenged politicians and idiots everywhere for giving us our inspiration.

Pure impact
Their MCD went down a storm, now this debut might really impress you: one of the best debut albums I’ve heard in a long time. Very hard hitting Oi! / streetpunk with intelligent lyrics and excellent tunes, and it shows they're experienced musicians. Unlike so many other albums it’s been properly produced and benefits enormously from that. One of the best British bands of the moment.
CONTROL – ‘HOOLIGAN ROCK ‘N’ ROLL’ CD
Full on punk rock that takes the toughness of early Oi!, the straightforward attack of ’77 punk and a large dose of street rock ‘n’ roll with the end result being like an English version of ROGER MIRET AND THE DISASTERS with more edge and a more dangerous element. It’s right in between a UK and US sound and that’s a place I seriously like my punk to be! I hear some elements of SHOCK NAGASAKI (a band I love) at times, with those SEX PISTOLS-esque power chords but, again, this is way tougher. Even though they keep things simple there’s some really interesting stuff going on with the guitars, interesting leads and progressions which adds a great diverse element to their sound. A really impressive debut record here…this is a new band to seriously keep an eye on. If you want tough punk rock that’s got a lot of melody and power and a serious ‘voice’ then CONTROL will just blow you away. I’m seriously impressed with this.
The long awaited debut from Control, 15 great tracks, a classic debut. Control have managed to combine Powerful fast paced songs but still keep it tuneful.Outstanding Tracks?? Every Single Song on the CD.
