....Chris Walters..............Create Your Badge.... ....New Orleans born pianist/singer Chris Walters is an independent artist who has resided in Nashville since 1989. When not touring with his own band, Chris can often be seen performing with other groups, including JD Souther, Peter Mayer, and the Jeff Coffin Mu'tet. He's performed with the Nashville Symphony Orchestra and recorded the soundtrack for a documentary film scored by Bela Fleck. At the age of 18, he was a finalist in the Chattanooga Symphony Orchestra's Gershwin competition. Chris attended the Jazz Studies Program at Webster University in St. Louis and was listed by them as a notable alumnus in a recent Downbeat magazine article. His debut album, "Strange Fruit", was featured on National Public Radio's "Jazz South" program. Chris' second release, "Cool Blue Swing", offers 11 new tracks of original music. Two of his animated short films were winners at the 2005 Key West IndieFest. He's currently recording a third album more ambitious than his previous work. A multi-media creation, it will feature some of his animations and encompass new songs he's written over the past few years as well as works by Alberto Ginastera and George Gershwin, featuring orchestral arrangements around his small band performances. ....Chris has recently produced albums for singer/actress Shelean Newman on the Grand Vista label. The newly released "Anything Goes", featuring Chris' contemporary arrangements of classic Broadway standards, and the Christmas CD, "Snowfall", feature performances by a host of Nashville musicians.
