The Cult of Point Break Society was first organized in 2004 by Richard Adkins, a local drummer and former member of too may bands to mention. Comprised of the best musicians in New England, the COPBS convenes annually to produce a concert for charity. Our goal is to re-animate a "cult" classic rock album and perform it onstage and in studio. We strive to arrive as close to the sound and spirit of each record as possible, seeking a true understanding of the music that has had an immeasurable impact on our lives.
Past projects have included Slint's "Spiderland," Big Star's "1 Record & Radio City," & Neil Young's "Tonight's the Night."
This year's concert project will be a live performance of Television's Marquee Moon. I expect the show to take place in October, somewhere in the Boston area, and I will be looking for musicians. So if you're interested in participating, please email me at cultofpointbreak@gmail.com.
We are also currently recording an E.P. of material by the band Talk Talk. More details will be posted here as they become available.
Please visit us at Facebook or the myspace for further details on our projects.
