…"outrageous, energetic and half-insane sound, which manifests itself here in a dense blend of cheeky pop, frazzled garage, peppy punk and even disco, electro and grunge. If Weston was a beaker into which Snyder added his bizarre tastes in small doses, this band is the grand science experiment where everything blows up in his grinning face" - Philadelphia Weekly
"What I respect is how the band has continued to grow without sacrificing what they do best. This is a great guitar-pop band that will appeal to the kids just getting out of school as easily as it will to the probably-too-old-to still-be moved-by this-as much-as-I-am crowd...an astounding album." - Jersey Beat
"And after all is said and done, I must say that this is the most satisfying record I’ve heard thus far in 2008; it’s absolutely splendid. Complex, dark, and strangely melodic and poppy, the Cordova Academy Glee Club never cease to amaze." - EmotionalPunk.com
"A self released record, untouched by the Industry and one of the best albums I have heard in years, full of catchy hooks, quirky lyrics and technical precision not often heard in today’s over-saturated scene. "Be Mine or There Will be War" is at the top of the list for Best Albums of 2008, a complex and satisfying album that will spawn a slew of copycats." - Indie Uprising
"Blurring the lines between rock, pop, punk, and indie, this Philadelphia quartet forces a breath of well needed fresh air down the throat of the ever redundant and stagnant music scene." - WFMU
"cerebral garage rock at its very finest" - Smother.net
"chaotic, soaring and at times, sonically gorgeous, Cordova is an act that deserves to be celebrated for taking chances and attempting to challenge an audience without bowing to trends" - Jersey Beat
"guitar lines meander like beams of light in a dark sky, skittish drums play the role of the scuttled masses down beneath the city, and the vocals ring with an honesty, a paranoia, and a hope that positively soar" - UpBeetMusic.com
"I’m hard-pressed to think of another current band that’s this tight, and refined on their debut outing. A pleasant surprise all the way around." - Pastepunk.com
"the aural equivalent of a Magic Eye picture. You are irrestibly drawn into them" - Centre Daily Times
"a five-song parade of lyrical zeal, powerful and dreamy indie-pop, and enough energy to power a small state" - Transformonline.com
"Power pop with an ear to the street & driving tunes that swallow you whole." - New York Waste
"Cordova crafts surging, enthralling post-punk guitar rock that calls to mind such bands as Smashing Pumpkins, Echo & the Bunnymen, Pixies, and U2." - RockErie.com
"Cordova have put together a release that gives us promise for a better future." - Sheer-Magazine.com
"Cordova rock an indie punk flair that is sure to get the kids moving." - Exoduster.com
"It’s beautiful, it’s heavy, it rocks, it emotes, it’s all in under four minutes, and it’s a huge middle finger to the verse/chorus/verse pattern that music has fallen into. You could play it on the radio (it fits in the timeslot) if you could get past the no-chorus issue. And that’s the general message that Cordova is sending here: forget modern music. It’s gone, and we’re here. Listen to us instead. And I say go with their logic. Lie Until it Becomes the Truth is the type of album that makes it all worth it. Writers like I sometimes sit through a stack of CDs without ever seeing something worthwhile, but this album is one that makes all that other crap we have to sit through absolutely negligible. This is a band that other artists will listen to, then sit back and say, "Why can’t we be this good?" Really though. Why can’t everyone be this good? The world would be an awesome place. If you like indie music, you’ll like Cordova. I promise you. The best example of the sound is the aforementioned "Riot in Suburbia," which gets my vote for best song of the year (yes, the year, I’m serious about this)." - Adequacy.net
"there is no doubt the powerful vocals and crashing guitars will have you instantly hooked." - Punknews.org
"rocks ears with swirling and reverberating guitars, strong vocals that will cocoon your thoughts with strong-willed lyrics and dynamic driving melodies. Cordova sounds like they’re carving their own niche in the vast sea of rock" - Faketrain.com
"Dream pop, post-hardcore and rock ’n’ roll thrown into blender. Results scrutinized like no tomorrow, pieced together in most logical patterns, then committed to tape. "Riot In Suburbia" is my favorite song of the year." - Independentclauses.com
There are quotes, phrases, whole truths that fall out of your mouth. And they fall like anchors purchased by hitmen. And they crack the pavement when they land. And I watch them sink into the ground between my feet. And I start pulling at their chains, trying to drag them back up. If they get buried, then they're set in stone. But if I could just pick up the things you say and shove them back down your throat and tuck them behind your teeth, then we could just pretend you never said such things. But you put weight in your words so heavy that they nearly kill me. I listen to you talk about how pills were just a fuck up and you underestimated the strength of your own immune system. How horrible it was to wake up and realize you were still breathing when you so desperately planned on leaving. And next time, you'll just press yourself into the wind and float for awhile before your body hits the water because next time, oh next time, will be the last time you try and the first time you succeed. And those words I cannot lift. So I ask you to revise your will. I want the pieces of paper you murdered. I want to see the ink your weapon pen spilled. I want all of it. The napkins, the book covers, the thin receipt paper, I want every dead tree you thought no one would see. And you promised to give me your guitar so that I could press my face to its neck and still smell the iron your blood left as a stain on the frets and strings. I'll watch it haunt some corner of my room and pretend that the hollow body is like some ocean shell with the sound of you still in it echoing around. And here I am on all fours, my hands deep in the dirt digging for the last rung on those words you gave me, pleading for you to please, please just take it back. Please don't beat me at death.

Directed by Andrew Watson
Even the straightest lines bend when they dive into strange ideas. And sound changes all the time. I mean, just the day before tomorrow, my guitar sounded like a revolution but that wasn't really an accident was it? Have you ever started a riot? We should do that. Our name tags could be sketched in dissonant ink and read 'Lie Until It Becomes The Truth'. I think we could find something there...maybe something we never even knew we were looking for.
