"Six-sided dice have been found in Egypt from excavations dating to 1320 B.C., but dice-like bones used as chance devices have turned up in much earlier Egyptian sites. These particular bones, found also in the later Greek and Roman civilizations, are from the heel of a hoofed animal such as a deer, calf, sheep, or goat and are called tali (Latin) or astragali (Greek). The astragalus has four distinctly different long flat faces, the only ones on which it will rest when tossed, and two small rounded ends. Of the four flat faces, two are narrow and flat and two are broad, with one broad side slightly convex and the other slightly concave. Since each side of the astragalus looked different, it was not necessary to mark the sides. If they were marked with pips, the sides were scored 1, 3, 4, and 6. Greek and Roman games of chance were played with four astragali. The lowest throw, known as "the dogs," resulted when all ones were thrown. In the highest throw, called the Venus throw, four different sides came up."

Core of the Coal Man (feedback driven yodel triggers/carnastic arrays).
"Core of the Coal Man does whatever he wants to. He'll be combining feedback-driven yodel triggers, descending tympanic pressures
implying sexual interface, and (probably) extended upwardly mobile
Carnasitic arrays, with ornaments. Its like the blurred fossil record
of a biological crises during a time of intense geological speed.
Know what I mean, man? its Ordovician noise. The invitations went out
like 648 million years ago, it was old school. You still haven't
showed up. I miss you now but I wasn't there either. Now is a time
for reconcilliations.
Life burns to pour out and human life it does so with incredible structural obsessiveness. We dont imitate nature, we create it. Yam Yad!
CORE OF THE COALMAN (Messrs.Ann Joy Ann, Dan Wrath, and others) inhabit
the attic where the Comte Isidore Ducasse's bones have been stored
since his death, though they where much picked over when found in the
company of a rough legged hawk. The men immediately formed a barbershop
quartet dedicated to performing baroque slink slop in concordance with
thermoelectric properties. Thus when they where hot, they where hot. That
is, until one Bob Doubles found a cure for the baritone in the groups
chronic coryza. It was a theoretical cure, and while the predicament was
allieviated the geocephalo-cotex was direly affected, and an initiative
of obsessive fusion of geological and musical time frames became
supercooled and thus glacially motivated. Slow in form but motivated and
etched by sunshine continually, in the spirit of biting the hand that feeds
one, Core of the Coalman is dyspeptic subtended prescient lacuna.

The only Howling Hex record to be released on a label other than Drag City. Four tracks penned by Neil Hagerty, the rest of the total twelve by a variety of unknown collaborators - all produced by Hagerty, all weird and incredible. There's bits of bizarre sound art, broken poetry, a coulda-been-a-90s-dance-anthem, rock songs, a ballad, and tons of sweet guitar playing. The title track alone is worth the price of the record, with its haunting, counter-melodic, phasing synth and guitar arrangement.

This is the first set from the slightly tweaked Beach Fuzz line-up with Fliss Horrocks now playing guitar alongside Tom Settle and Nick Mitchell. Seven tracks of clattering drums, chugging and wailing guitars, screaming keyboards, mellow, lilting pastoral improv and moaned vocals.

My new 3 album box set ODESSA delves into the disgusting involvement the United States government had in hiding Nazi war criminals that were deemed, "intelligence assets", to be used against the Russians. ODESSA also examines the enthusiastic role the Franciscan Order, Argentinian and Chilean Governments, and Arab leaders who hated the Jews played in hiding and finding new homes for former fascists. It seems many nations had a reason to keep these monsters from being captured, and this is my attempt to expose the establishment of a Fourth Reich in South America that still exists to this day.
