Mark Kozelek put out my last record called The Absent and the Distant on his label Caldo Verde in 2006. Since then I did a couple of states tours, and one Euro tour in support of it. Returning home, I felt inspired by creating music with other musicians. Not just sitting and writing songs on my own, This project is called TU Fawning with Joe Haege of 31 Knots.. We released an ep last summer on Polyvinyl records, and the vinyl on Discourage. We added 2 new members. LIza Rietz, ans Toussaint Perrault. We have been playing a lot of shows in Portland, and in Seattle, as well as spending time on our basement writing a new record. It's been amazing fun! Sometimes sitting behind the drums, piano, guitar, or just singing.
I have most of the songs done to record my next solo record, but don't know where or how I am going to record it. I am urged by a couple of people to keep it simple. Apparently my garageband tapes are worth a listen..anyway....
And lastly Viva Voce has requested my presence, and guitar/voice on their coming tours. They are releasing a new record on Barsuk in May of 2009. I will be in their touring band in support of it. After many years of playing music, this will be my first trip to SXSW- w/ Viva Voce. I am honored and so looking forward to focusing on my guitar playing. Something I have wanted to do for years.
Hope to see you around somewhere soon.
Here's to the coming days.

Nor Mozart, Charlie Parker or Jimmy Hendrix had such an instrument at their disposition! All music we know is made on instruments we know. New weapons generate killings, new musical instruments generate.... Jan Van Kelst
