Hailing from the South suburbs of Chicago, founding members Andre Almaraz (ex-Abortus), Eric Ondo (Johnny Vomit, ex-Maimed) and Bill Sargis (Johnny Vomit, ex-Maimed) began jamming together in early 2001. After three years of wood-shedding and a revolving door of bassists they recruited longtime friend Rich Cygan, entering Chicago's Volume Studios with producer Sanford Parker (Minsk, Buried At Sea) for their debut EP. Released in October 2004, "Couldron" received rave reviews both online and in print; The Illinois Entertainer and The Chicago Reader praised the album, and Metal Maniacs featured the band in a Fast Forward article. The first track "Dune" appeared on the Daredevil Records compilation "Burn The Street Volume IV" alongside genre heavyweights Mastodon, Entombed, Solace, Alabama Thunderpussy and more.
March 2005 saw Tariq Ali (ex-Christpuncher) take over bass duties, allowing Cygan to step down and resume the family life. February 2006 Couldron traveled to The Ensomberoom studio in Fort Wayne, Indiana to record their second DIY release with Geoff Montgomery (Fog, Hordes of the Lunar Eclipse) manning the board. Couldron's second self-financed EP "Four Winds" was released in August 2006, once again to online and printed praise.
In early 2008 the band took a break from performing to concentrate on finalizing material for their third EP. By Spring, Sargis chose to leave the band, and the search for a new drummer is ongoing. Meanwhile, the song "Four Winds" is included on Stonerrock.com's 8th compilation series,
