D Records's Blurbs |
About me:
In the city of Detroit, rarely is there a conversation about underground techno without the mention of D-records. Originally founded in collaboration between Rich Hawtin and a select group of local producers, D-records launched as a sub label of M-nus in early 1999. The focus was to showcase underground producers who represent the true sound of modern Detroit techno, and to deliver the next generation of Detroit artists to the ears of the international techno community.
Between 1999 and 2001, D ushered Detroit into the new millennium with a consistent run of very successful records. During that time frame, management was handed over to Jason Huvaere (founder of Paxahau Promotions Group), and releases from producers Tom Newman, Rex Sepulveda, and Len Bartush topped sales charts, DJ playlists, and have been licensed for numerous compilations and mix CD’s. Many early releases have sold-out weeks after release, making them highly sought after items for collectors of Detroit techno.
From D012 onward, D began the move towards the world of mp3 distribution and a primarily digital output. 2008 adds a whole new group of up and coming Detroit artists: Brian Kage, Keith Kemp, Eric Johnston, Josh Dahlberg, and Codine.
D-records prides itself on having an uncompromising focus on quality and integrity, and promises to be the label to turn to first for the future sound of Detroit techno.
