[ENGLISH] DAJLA is the Arabic translation of River TIGRIS, Mesopotamian river, soul sister of Euphrates River. Dajla is like this river: her spirit runs free and strong amongst the land of MUSIC. She used to be mad but now she's a big girl she 's learnt how to hide it better. Doesn't stop her from feeling lonely in this fucked up world where money and shallow assholes seem to rule. But this is her quest indeed:seeking real human beings, staying one of them, not giving in to the "robots world" (Titanium cards and Gucci pants won't bring me nuttin but a Plastic Man ...Champagne Cocaïne and Bling Bling Bling won't bring me nuttin but plastic friends...Hype 'n Hustlers, Fake Ass Posers) Indeed she is Not interested by this part of the music business - which she has had plenty time to experience already-) thank you very much, but no, thanx! - She is ....Seeking Humanity...through music and travelling. Her debut album SOUL POETRY released in France May 2006 and produced with partner Benji BOUTON opens the way for this mutant and talented young woman-man-who knows who we really are?- Soul Poetry so far has been plaed live throughout France, but also took Dajla & Benji and their bandmembers to Europe, Mexico (Ollin Kan Festival and Mexico City Opera Theatre), the Carribbean, and Gabon, Africa on a long adventure looking for their Soul and tryin' to bring it back to ya'll.
Biography:
Dajla is a lead singer, a songwriter, a pianist and a bassplayer- she comes back to France in 2003 after 5 years spent in London, and travelling back and forth between Paris, London, and the USA....
Dajla grew up in the West coast of France, raised by a soul-and Rythmn 'n Blues loving dad originally from Kabylia and Tunisia, and a French American/Gypsy rock loving mum in the midst of the cool 1970's...She started playing jazz and classical piano at the age of 6 at the local music college. She picked up the bass at 17 deeply influenced by her encounter with Gilles "SKANT" Rouxel, VERSKA VIS lead singer and fierce anti racist souldier. SKANT introduces her to ska and rocksteady before passing away in strange circumstances...(one day we will know the truth...Nazi motherfuckers...now controlling the country...). He also led her to FISHBONE...She meets singer Angelo Moore in 1992, who was going to have a decisive influence on her music and life. After Skant's death she moves to London and dives into the magic atmosphere of the city, Drum 'n Bass memories and Northern Soul nights...at age 20. Mick Whitnall, then leader of rock steady band One Hundred Men hires her as a keyboard player.
She spends a few years playing bass and keys for various bands in London, while working fo the MERC in Camden and teaching English to refugees in Finsbury Park...but she had not yet found what she was looking for. In 2001 she packs up her bags and returns to France with a handful of songs and her basslines... She finally meets producer/drummer/guitarist/keyboardist/beatmaker and genius Benjamin "BENJI BLOW" Bouton Benji on MySpace - Benji played drums and produced beats for acoustic Hip-hop band SAT and for Tribeqa (with Magic Malik).....
Together they found what they'd been looking for.....Their love for hip-hop beats, Electro, p-funk, Soul, Blues, Ska, Reggae, Rock, Jazz -this is silly I should really say...all musics, Music with a capital M!!- took them to another space, where Music knows no boundaries...."Soul Poetry", their first LP, was released May 9th with French label Under Cover. Daj & Benji got a band together - as well as a trio version (where she plays bass and sings) and are about to hit the road all over France and Europe. Watch out for them , not to be missed...Soul Poetry was released for a second time in Feb. 2007 with two bonus tracks. Dajla is currently living on the West Coast of France and has co-written the music score for Dance Director Herwann Asseh's new 2008 solo show : "99" (company Moral Soul) whose theme is based around growing up in Western world while being of mixed origins. Dajla is performing live singing and playing bass next to Herwann dancing on stage, check our schedule!! +++Dajla and Benji have recorded their second album "The Meaning of Life" which will be released february 2009- a fabulous blend of Soul, Hip Hop, Afro Beat and Electro Funk featuring the Procussions, Magic Malik, Allonymous, Anthony Joseph, Angelo Moore from Fishbone....Stay Tuned!! All business partners (labels, dstribution, promotion, Tour) are welcome to come forward and see how we can develope this great up and coming album together++++ Peace to all and see ya on and around the stage...

Thnks for the add !! Im in love with you and your music...dont change never. I hope you are coming soon to play your music to spain. Light & Love ! ! !
Thank you sooooooooooo much for the bday wishes, sis! I wish you could've been here too. I've been rocking your present with pride! I even bumped into someone you know this weekend. Pierre? I think he manages Wax Tailor. In any case, I was in Beligum and everyone kept telling me what a cool team I was representing. Haha. They played a game that night and won. Lol. People kept speaking German to me. Hahaha. In any case, the shows have been beautiful and my birthday was nothing short of amazing. My mom heads back to the US today. Gonna miss her like crazy. Oh and I can't thank you ENOUGH for reaching out to me on the album. I would LOVE LOVE LOVE to work on some collaborations. I do have access to a studio here, but even if I can't lay something down before I go, I have studio access back home too. Feel free to send over the tracks. Oh, you're amazing! I love you and miss you and can't wait to get together again! Hugs and kisses to you and Benj.
