I began piano when I was 5 and was always told by my teacher that I had a composers ear. It became more obvious as I would memorize my lessons as I wanted to hear them....not as they were written. By the time I was in high school, I found my niche in writing poetry. After winning some awards, it later evolved to lyrical form and eventually I started to write the music myself as well. Many years in a tedious self taught process of learning how to write an arraingment on my own, you have no clue how close I came to pushing my piano over my balcony.
Very, very close. Many, many times.
Somehow I managed to get through it and my writing got better. In the beginning I was just going to sing, but it has now taken a secondary placement to my writing. It brings me much joy to create songs so that is why I do it. I gave up my plan of action a long time ago.
Now I just do it.........I write and keep my eye on opening doors. You just never know what could be around the corner.
