If ever there was a psalmist whose heart for worship spilled over with gratitude in the very presence of God – it’s Dana Mackey. In a region where traditional gospel reigns, Dana has quietly distinguished herself as one of the Bay area’s most recognizable praise and worship leaders. The rich soulful delivery of this Tampa musician, songwriter and singer connects people with the love, compassion and mercy of the living God. Dana’s debut project With Praises from the Heart (2007) not only captured her national attention, but showcased her refreshing ability to write and minister music for a multi-ethnic audience. Through an anointed and truly confident resolve, Dana beckons listeners to offer exuberate expressions of praise from the lifting of hands to simply basking in the comfort of his presence. But now, she and her producers have fused an array of musical styles for her upcoming project that compared to her earlier work – has meatier lyrics, powerful delivery, high energy and greater diversity within the Christian music genre. Wonderful will still offer the celebration found in the sweet splendor of his glory; but Jesus and Can We Praise You Now are just two of those songs that you put on repeat and blast in your car with the windows down! And there’s some get-up-and-dance like David music in there too! However, one thing will remain consistent in Dana’s music – her uncompromising message that proclaims the great name of Jesus! She has to her credit and God’s glory nominations for the Stellar Award First Round New Artist of the Year, EnSound Music Award Female Vocalist of the Year and Fred Newsome Award Best CD Packaging of the Year. Accepting over 100 ministry invitations last year alone, requests for Dana have grown from singing to now include ministering the Word of God – one more indication that God is clearly taking her in yet a different direction of ministry.
