Hi there! My name is Dani Ashworth. I was born on June 8, 1989, in Richmond, British Columbia, the first of two children born of Mike and Jacki Ashworth.
At the age of four my Mom introduced me to the soundtrack from "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat." This soundtrack served as the catalyst to a lifelong love of music. I have been singing my way though life ever since!
Elementary school brought my first stage performance experience – a place to showcase my inherent love of singing. My experience culminated in being chosen for a prestigious musical achievement award in grade 7. At age 11, I joined the Surrey Children’s Choir. This was a fantastic learning experience that taught me not only sight-reading and the technical aspects of the music business, but also the momentum and richness of harmony!
During my high school years I was cast in prominent roles musical performances such as Suessical the Musical and Bye-Bye Birdie. If I wasn’t on stage practicing or performing at school you could always find me attending the local talent competitions held by the BC Country Music Association. With each competition my performance improved. Before I knew it, I had attracted a local following for which I will always be thankful. My early fans are responsible for boosting my confidence and transforming my onstage presence with their loyalty and support.
Music is of the utmost importance to me, but I also place an equal amount of energy in maintaining my character, integrity and humanity. I know who I am and what I stand for and will not allow that to be compromised. In my senior year of high school I was elected co-president of the student council and I was also chosen to represent my school and province at a major national youth leadership convention. I made it a priority to strive for and maintain a high grade average. My efforts were rewarded with college scholarships and the school's "Knight Rider Award" which honored me as the outstanding senior student. I am currently studying for a Bachelor of Arts degree at Simon Fraser University in Vancouver, BC.
Although I am inspired by all types of music, country music has definitely made its home in my heart. I can’t tell you how many countless hours were spent tuned into CMT – deep in the zone, pulled in by the soul of the song and performing alongside the artists as if the whole world was watching!
Simply put, singing is my joy, my passion and my calling. Seeing others respond to my music makes me realize I have something real to give back to the world that has already given me so much. What a thrill! I am blessed to have family, friends, teachers and fans that have guided me along the way and continue to support me in pursuit of my musical dreams.
