Alone or with good folks. Some real stars coming together on the new record. More to come as it comes to a close.
Influences
Books, eavesdropping, the old world pharmaceuticals, time spent with david and the cmg, driving about with carrie, phone-calls from gina, a handful of boys from decades ago, the gentle constant tutelage of michael, the loose and somewhat clumsy years in new york, everything we left buried in the backyard in Indiana, everything you can dis about Los Angeles, Lance Faulk, a film douglas made a long time ago about a tree in the storm, a russian girl named Roxalanna to whom I wish I could just say "sorry, i was a mess." Those that left and those that remain. Dion's faith and footage. A gang of music from everywhere always. My mother's thick gorgeous courage,The world I never knew existed till I moved there. A walk franz took me on in the snow around Walden when the boots sarah made me were falling apart and taking in water. Amy and everything she does. Watching so many people achieve their brilliance. It goes on and on; the influences just continue and bewilder, but mostly I would say: love.
"THE BEST OF THE BUNCH: Absolutely lovely....slice of genius...his voice is as clean as it can get, and you hear every crack, every breath countered by the beautifully-held notes" - Wireless Bollinger
"A small masterpiece...Ahearn couches both the ups and downs, the sunshine and the Santa Anas, of the West Coast" - 3Hive
"Nowadays...One of the greatest songs of 2008!" - AmericanaUk.com
"Daniel Ahearn of Ill Lit is one of those artists that other artists continually turn to for inspiration. His voice and words are pure and full of beauty—something we all work towards as writers" - Largehearted Boy
"It’s electronic alt-country, perfect for LA, where the man behind the music does his work." - Bon-Ton
"His sincerity and heart help you really attach yourself to the songs" - Herohill
"Gorgeous pop songs, the kind of things that would be soaring anthems if Ahearn trended that way. He doesn't, though, and the result is immeasurably more enjoyable gems, subtly crafted and sublimely played." - Aiding & Abetting
Hello Daniel, just been purusing what i can find of you on youtube. You have become a regular part of my "getting prepared to play" ritual in which I listen to a couple choice musical compositions with a glass of wine. I find it very inspirational before picking up the old gee-tar and writing. Thank you. The live version of Jesus Saves is fantatsic!
