To Danny Allen, dirt roads, fishing holes, family, friends, good times and country music represent more than just a way to pass the time; they represent a way of life. A deep-rooted passion backed by years of country living and time on the stage has provided Danny a way to bridge the gap between real life and the music industry.
Raised by his grandparents in Columbus, Georgia, Danny was instilled with moral values from a young age. His Grandfather was a mentor to young Danny taking him hunting and fishing and teaching him what it meant to be a man. His grandmother, a skilled pianist and singer graced the weekly church congregation with her angelic vocals. Admiring his grandmother’s passion and drive, Danny soon found himself immersed in learning the vocal craft. It wasn’t long before he was singing at church, performing his first song in front of an audience at the age of seven. Earning applause for doing something he loved gave the youngster a new outlook on what life could hold for him. “If you can see yourself doing it, you can do it in real life. You just have to decide to put your mind to it.” Always wanting to take it further, Danny got his first guitar when he was eight years old and taught himself how to play and sing some of his favorites from the Country greats: Randy Travis, Hank Williams Jr. and Sr., George Jones, Merle Haggard, Alabama and John Anderson.
By his sixteenth birthday Danny had developed a unique stage persona and found himself singing with the bands at the local honky-tonk. Friends would line up to watch him play, as he quickly became the talk of the town. As his experience grew, so did Allen’s appreciation for other musical genres. During the 90’s, he became influenced by acts in the rock/pop realm including Dave Matthews, John Mellancamp, Bob Segar and many other bands. With his newfound inspiration, Danny was ready to play bigger and better venues. He opted for Atlanta, Georgia where he continued to develop his passion and playing abilities at the local country bars. “In Atlanta I discovered what it took to make it in the big city – going from country living to city living was definitely a culture shock, but I learned a lot about business there.” In the year of 1998 the heavens shone on Danny with the birth of his daughter. Quickly becoming even more driven to provide for his new princess, Danny moved to Nashville to finish paying his dues and meet new writers. “I always felt compelled to collaborate with other musicians and grow with my songwriting.” Doing just this Danny has met and shared the stage with many stars including Tim McGraw, Black Hawk and Little Texas among others.
With his traditional country swagger and vocal delivery stirring echoes of Randy Travis, Clint Black, Garth Brooks and Mark Chesnutt, Danny aspires to further develop his career. Upon completion of his debut album, Allen will hit the road visiting honky-tonks and music venues across the Nation. Remaining real in a complex world of music and being a person that fans can relate to is of utmost importance to Danny, “I myself am just a fan that happens to be able to sing for a living - to touch people on an emotional level is important to me, helping people in need and providing for charities are ideals that I hold close to my heart.”
