Influences

Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Glen Miller, Oscar Peterson, Gerry Mulligan, Ella Fitzgerald, Kingston Trio, Jim Reeves, Hank Williams, Chet Atkins, Ray Charles, Nat Cole, The Everly Brothers, The Rascals, The Beatles, The Beach Boys, Bob Dylan, Anything Motown, CCR, Traffic, Joe Walsh, Paul Butterfield, Mike Bloomfield, Johnny Winter, Jimi Hendrix, Joni Mitchell, Dan Fogelberg, Paul Simon, James Taylor, Elton John, Carl Palmer, The Allman Brothers, Poco, Eagles, Steely Dan, Billy Joel, Emmylou, Alison Krauss, Bonnie Raitt, Neil Young, Steve Stills, Stevie Wonder, Jackson Browne, Little Feat, The Band, Eric Clapton, Crowded House, Shawn Colvin, Elliot Smith, Sheryl Crow, Michelle Branch...I'm sure I've left out several dozen - I've been around a long time!

Everything that has been recorded in the last 70+ years has influenced us all. Seventy years ago is when things began to be recorded with higher fidelity, thanks to Bing Crosby - yes Bing Crosby. He was instrumental in the development and implementation of tape based recording in studios. That allowed for easier mass production and distribution of popular music (sheet music and 78 RPM records made from wax masters were the portable media in Bing's era) and sent us on the way to high fidelity recordings. Now, in the new high-tech 21st century, we take a giant leap backward in sonic integrity with the mp3 format, the worst sounding digital format (or any recording medium since wax!) that exists today!

What are we doing?!!!

Sounds Like.. ..

Danny Burns, having been influenced by all of the above!

I am Studio/Operations Manager for 30A Radio LPFM. I also do a live radio/internet music show every Friday from 5-7 Central time at 30A Radio. I play my favorite Rock and Roll from the last 50+ years.

   About Danny Burns
The 411 The 411 The 411

These are rough mixes of 4 of 11 songs I'm currently working on. I finally found a wav - mp3 converter program that I like (as much as I can like mp3, being an old analog freak), so these are mp3 files that were run through a pair of vintage Telefunken V374a line amps through a Virtuosa converter.

I find it weird to write in the third person as if I'm not talking about myself so, this is my 41 year career in 8 paragraphs, as described by me:

I have been a musician, writer, singer, producer, engineer, tech, teacher, and all around studio guy all of my life. My musical career began at 13. I still have the single one-dollar bill I made at that first singing gig.

I played hard for many years and at 25, my band mates and I signed a recording contract with Casablanca/Parachute records. The whole big label process was not something I was suited for, so I decided to change course and learn more about audio recording. Getting your music to the public was much more difficult and expensive in the late 70s than it is now, so I went back to school to get a degree in electronics.

After Graduating, I achieved many goals I didn't think were possible just a few years earlier. I worked in a technical or musical capacity with many wonderful artists. Here is a list of some of the ones I can remember: The Beach Boys, Carl Palmer (ELP, Asia), Jimmy Buffet, Michael Jackson, U2, Barbra Streisand, Frank Zappa, Doc Watson, Vassar Clements, Barry Manilow, Henry Mancini, Luther Vandross, Herbie Hancock, Warren Hill, Jeff Lorber, Michael Card, Randy Scruggs, Leon Russell, Petra, Steve Cropper, Wilson Pickett, Ricky Skaggs, Quincy Jones, EMI Productions...

I've worked for the following companies: Mobile Fidelity Sound Lab, Soundcraft, JBL, Westlake Audio, AMS/Neve, Ocean Way Studios Nashville, and Sound Kitchen Studios Nashville.

I've worked on thousands of Soundcraft, Trident, Harrison, SSL, and Neve consoles. I've repaired tens of thousands of faults with all kinds of gear in over 400 studios nationwide. I've commissioned (uncrated, assembled, tested, repaired at component level, taught operation, taught technical maintenance) over 100 Neve consoles and 80 moving fader systems in the western US.

All of this took me to 49 states and 14 countries, working in hundreds of studios and with hundreds of songwriters, artists, studio owners, and techs, over 30+ years of my life. I have been blessed to have experienced more in my life so far than any 5 people I know.

I have lived in Lawton, Oklahoma - Kansas City, Missouri - Chicago, Illinois - Los Angeles, California - and Nashville, Tennessee - and currently live in - Inlet Beach in South Walton County, Florida.

These songs, and many more, have been floating around in my head for too long. I just thought it was time, after doing for others for so many years, to record my own music and see what kind of interest it can generate. I've tried to keep the songs simple without being simplistic. I would like to see them find a home with anyone who can appreciate them for what they are...songs written from the heart by a life lived to its fullest. Making a little money from them would also be kind of nice.

Thanks for taking your valuable time to read this.
