Dan Sultan has continued his rise to popularity on the Australian music scene in 2008. January saw Dan perform at The Sydney State Theatre with the likes of Paul Kelly, Kev Carmody and Missy Higgins during the live performances of Cannot Buy My Soul to rave reviews.
February was Black Arm Band where he shared the stage at The Sydney Opera House Concert Hall with Archie Roach, Jimmy Little and Shane Howard amongst other greats. This was followed by The Union Of Soul Tour with Dan’s band supporting The John Butler Trio & The Waifs. The shows included all three artists sharing the stage to sing the legendary “From Little Things Big Things Grow”.
Another February highlight was the Sorry Day celebrations at Federation Square in Melbourne where Dan performed his song Roslyn, written about the stolen generation. A day to remember for all Australians with the emotion charged audience delivering a standing ovation.
March saw Dan and the band perform at Womad, Port Fairy Folk Festival, The East Coast Blues and Roots Festival in Byron Bay and The Blue Mountains Music Festival.
In June Dan and the full band performed at the amazing Dreaming Festival in Qld and Dan appeared on ABC TV on the Spicks N Specks program.
Black Arm Band then took off to London for an incredible one of show.
Dan and Scott Wilson followed up from London doing a very special tour of Ireland.Dan loves to perform live and with his musical cohort Scott Wilson they have put together a knockout soul band which never fails to deliver.

Hi Dan,
Some interesting info for you, if your music is with APRA.
ASCAP is the rights organization in the US. Their bill of rights state.
-We have the right to license our works and control the ways in which they are used.
-We have the right to choose when and where our creative works may be used for free.
Contact APRA and ask them why these freedoms that are available to artists in the US are not available to artists in Australia.
Do you want a real business of music that is able compete with the system in the US? Do you want your content to allways be priced at the same price as large bands like the red hot chilly pepars? Why do you have no choice? is the union of APRA positive for your music when every home has an internet connection and the internet is a copy machine? Did you write your songs to be heard or to get a royalty? Don't you need the right to make your work free when the publishers reject it? Why do US composers and songwriters demand these rights?
Australian artists can join and transfer to ASCAP. You just have to send in a paper application form, rather than join online. You would be able to do more with tunes with these rights within your community.
