Influences
Darci is proud to count as some of her influences some of the legendary and best-selling artists she has sung backup with and/or for over the course of her career so far: Steve Winwood, Dolly Parton, Kim Carnes, Sandi Patty, Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, The Judds, Glen Campbell, Lee Greenwood, Marie Osmond, John Hiatt, Beth Nielsen Chapman and even those beloved 80's teen icons Tiffany and "Robin Sparkles"! Some of her influences are as vocalists, some as songwriters, some as both: Heart, Aretha Franklin, Pat Benatar, Billy Joel, Elton John, Melissa Etheridge, Janis Joplin, Sting/The Police, Alanis Morissette, Annie Lennox/Eurythmics, No Doubt, Alicia Keys, Seal, Bruce Springsteen, Queen, various Motown artists, pre-crack Whitney Houston, Tina Turner, Chaka Kahn/Rufus, Mariah Carey's first two or three albums, Eve 6, The Beach Boys, early Beatles, Journey, Kansas, Styx, Bon Jovi, Def Leppard, Lionel Richie, Chicago (up till Cetera left), Vonda Shepard, Eric Carmen, Simon & Garfunkel, Phil Collins, Carly Simon, Aimee Mann (indie and proud!), Ella Fitzgerald, Mel Torme, Sara Vaughn, Rosemary Clooney, Manhattan Transfer, Take 6, Johnny Cash, Dolly Parton, Hank Williams Sr., (old, REAL country), Amy Grant, Michael W. Smith, Sandi Patty, Twila Paris, John Williams, Hans Zimmer, Chopin, Beethoven, Debussey...Darci's amazingly talented friends and fellow artists, Debby Holiday, The Wilshires, Levi Kreis, Gigi Hill, Moe Loughran, Austin Hanks and all the other fine folks in her top friends...and Darci's in NO WAY ashamed to admit that she LURVES Kelly Clarkson (and has every intention of getting a song cut on one of her future CDs - MARK THE WORDS).
Sounds Like
Darci's original music is like having lunch with Kelly Clarkson, Eva Cassidy and Ann Wilson (Heart) while Aretha Franklin chills at the next table. Her new CD (street date early 2009) will be like "Rock Chick Darci meets Coffeehouse Darci"...part full-production pop/rock, part acoustic balladry, always with a little splash of soul.
Furthermore: Pat Benatar, Pink, Sass Jordan, Steve Perry (of Journey), Suzie McNeil (of Rockstar: INXS), Paramore, Evanescence, Annie Lennox, Alanis Morissette, Jeff Buckley, Michelle Branch, Avril Lavigne, Sarah McLachlan, Janis Joplin, Patty Griffin, Billy Joel, Elton John, Carrie Underwood, Carly Smithson (of American Idol), Jennifer Hudson.
Songs Darci writes and pitches to other artists cover nearly any style (sorry, no hardcore hip hop or rap).

It's a Kelly Clarkson-Eva Cassidy-Ann Wilson sandwich

TALENT IS BACK.
Darci Monet is a classically and commercially trained professional vocalist, vocal coach, independent recording artist and award-winning songwriter. She gave her first professional performance at age eleven in Upstate New York in a local production of "Annie", began her professional career during college at Belmont University in Nashville as a studio singer, songwriter and recording artist and continues now in Los Angeles.
Darci's vocal credits include principal performances in film and television ("Napoleon Dynamite", "How I Met Your Mother"), live performances and master recording sessions with major label artists (Dolly Parton, Steve Winwood, Amy Grant, The Judds, etc.), songwriter demos (ABC sitcom "Hope and Faith") and national ads (Subway Corporation). Live, Darci currently performs backup for top ten Billboard-charting dance diva/rocker Debby Holiday.
Songs she has written have been featured in indie movies and major network television shows ("Kiss The Bride" starring Tori Spelling, "The Apprentice", "The Young & The Restless", "Days of Our Lives"), won awards and honorable mentions in prestigious songwriting competitions (Unisong Songwriting Contest, Great American Song Contest, Billboard Songwriting Contest), and have been cut on major label albums (Music With A Twist, distributed by Columbia).
Stepping out from behind the scenes, Darci has just finished her new CD, which is available now at DarciMonet.com, CDBaby.com, iTunes and more. Fusion seamlessly brings together "Rock Chick-Darci" and "Coffeehouse-Darci," like a Kelly Clarkson, Eva Cassidy and Ann Wilson sandwich with a side of Aretha. She explains, “This project represents what I feel are the two strongest sides of me as a musician and writer. I decided that if I was going to take on the monumental task of recording an album again, I’d want both sides represented. So, ‘side A’ is the full band, full production pop/rock with a splash of soul I’m already known for. ‘Side B’ represents the quiet side that before now has mostly revealed itself in collaborations I’ve done on other artists’ projects.” Tracks featured on the album were written with Levi Kreis (on whose critically acclaimed albums One of the Ones and The Gospel According to Levi Darci is prominently featured as a writer and vocalist), Debby Holiday, Jeff Fedak, Chris Mitchell and Brandon Harvey. Fusion was produced by Darci and Steve Gryphon (Avril Lavigne, Gavin DeGraw, Debby Holiday), with pre-production by Ron Jagger (Michael W. Smith, dc Talk).
As a vocal coach, Darci's studio is exclusive and she accepts students by audition only. Darci's clients have appeared in national commercials, on Broadway, L.A.'s best clubs and everywhere in between. She also utilizes her coaching expertise as the author of the popular web column "A Working Musician's Review", in which she reviews contestants' performances on shows like "American Idol." She also sits as head judge for "Fame," L.A.'s best singing competition hosted by promoter Mario Pescatore.
Darci is SAG-eligible and her publishing company, Songs From The Fortress, is registered with BMI.
