"What we're doing with Band of Brothers is trying to put it into human terms, so it is not just a flickering, black and white myth on a screen, it is a resonant story. I want the audience to recognize themselves in these men. They're not just mythic heroes." ~ Tom Hanks

My “Papa” (grandfather)
PFC. Louis A. Cavicchia
Active Service ~ November 1942 – September 1945
My grandfather, or “Papa,” saw a lot of combat action during WWII. His records show he was part of “GO 33 & 40 WD 45” (I have to find out what that means.) His campaigns took him through Tunisia, Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Rome-Arno, Rhineland, Southern France and Central Europe.
41st Field Artillery Battalion
The broad arrow was used in the coat of arms of the 41st Field Artillery Battalion to symbolize celerity of movement and shock of impact.
3rd Infantry Division
The three white stripes of the insignia are symbolical of the three major operations in which the division participated during World War I. The blue field symbolizes the loyalty of those who placed their lives on the altar of self-sacrifice in defense of the American ideals of Liberty and Democracy.

We’re an active, "outdoorsy" couple. Camping, canoeing, hiking and sometimes just sitting still in one spot, relaxing, all really "do it" for us both.
I find Pennsylvania beautiful and vibrant. The landscapes can be rich in texture and color all year round, and the people are usually interesting to talk to. If you like the images below you can view more in My Photo Essay of Pennsylvania.
FIRE! Captured this at a local event.
Any historical event, especially American Civil War & French & Indian War re-enactments fascinate me. I don’t participate; I just take photos. You can see them in my Living History Galleries.
I’m the moderator for The Vulgar Unicorn. It’s my online forum for folks who attend Pennsic. They’re an eclectic and great bunch of folks! Feel free to sign up and post!
In 2003 I bought my first digital SLR to take on a trip to Maui. I had no idea what was to awaken in me. The sheer natural beauty of the island captured my heart and inspired me. A photographer was born there.
In 2005 I returned to the island and found it even more spectacular. I cannot wait to return someday to Maui, My Seed of Inspiration.
