Influences	IMPROVISATION
Sounds Like	Funky bass, swirling keyboards, melodic riffs, epic, soaring solos -- Japan's Datetenryu sports all the hallmarks of the notorious psychedelic prog-rock genre. And well it should: This group from the Kansai area (Osaka/Kobe/Kyoto) dates back to 1971, and is considered a prog progenitor in its native land. The band -- which was named after a racehorse (Datetenryu loosely translates as "cool flying dragon") an underground band formed in 1971. They apparently played a kind of psychedelic progressive rock with blues touches.

About DATETENRYU

DATETENRYU is JAM BAND in KYOTO since 1971. DATETENRYU is the leader band of the japanese underground rock scene which will continue activity in KYOTO from 1971.　DATETENRYU had the influence which is not made to write on music scenes of Japan.　So　it has worked energetically by the music world of Japan from the 70s. Their music nature is carrying out intension even of the psychedelic ,progressive, and blues. So they have the size of the individuality which does not look at a kind, and a scale in a preeminent technique and others, and have become the factor in which it wins deep-rooted popularity. Their live activity was stopped and it was now in 1983. however, ｔhe live concert was held for the first time in 18 years in Kyoto in 2001. Then, as for it, it will advertize widely that they are living to a world. DATETENRYU is LIVE BAND!

I know that there are many great bands in the world, that I'll probably never get a chance to listen to, but over the last months I found many fine musicians and great music here on MySpace. Great stuff that is really inspiring, among them were vocalists, fine ambient and electronic music, rock groups and many others... but I missed those great jam bands so far. Until now! Man, I love your stuff! I listened to all of your tracks, and will come back to listen again! If I get a band together in the near future that kind of music will be what I'd want to play (among others)! Very inspiring! My favourite tracks are Harugeshiki and Tofukuji... I wish you all the best! And I would love to see and hear you perform live on stage one day!
