    Grammy award winning singer/songwriter/bar-room guitar player Dave Alvin has been a constant force in traditional American roots music, both electric and acoustic, for over 25 years. From his earliest days with roots pioneers The Blasters through his stinits with punk rock/folkies X and The Knitters through his various solo releases, Dave has mixed blues, folk, rockabilly, rhythm and blues, country, surf, cajun and even doo wop into his own unique brand of American Music. His songs have been recorded by Los Lobos, Buckwheat Zydeco, Robert Earl Kean, Dwight Yoakam, Kelly Willis, James McMurtry, Joe Ely and Little Milton to name a few, and have been heard in tv shows like THE SOPRANOS and movies like CRYBABY and THELMA AND LOUISE. .. .. ..     Dave you are one of my musical heroes!! watched a Youtube video of you doing John Stewart's "California Bloodlines" and Loved it (John lived near me and I met/saw him many times...he even stole my ice cream once!LOL!)...I always loved "California" music and I was lucky to be invited to Beach Boys "Landmark Dedication" in May '05, and have original Beach Boy David Marks record and perform with us....Maybe one day I'll get a chance to work with you...until then I'll keep rockin' to your great music!

    Hi Dave - The Ashgrove is still a masterpiece.  Nice article in the last issue of The Fretboard Journal.  They did not give that album enough coverage.  Sure would like you to come out to the desert to play sometime. Not all of Vegas is lit with neon - only the good trashy places!
